Re: Different Season, Same Trap
Given what we know today: we will win between 5 and 12 games. McNabb will have more TD's than INT's. Our RB's will have more than 200 carries combined.
I'll be more specific once preseason starts.

Re: Different Season, Same Trap
I think there's two good reasons for some optimism:
Shanahan and now McNabb Plus, after last season it can't get any worse. Can it? |

Re: Different Season, Same Trap
We willl do way better than 4-12, but the other guys are right, other than McNabb and our two FA running backs, we still are essentially the same team.Since we lost our #2 pick to get McNabb, we might only be able to scrounge up one starter for our O line this year. Any linemen in rounds 4-7 if you play the odds, are going to be just roster fodder or practice squad material if they show some promise.

Re: Different Season, Same Trap
Hmmm, not sure if any of these guys would qualify as "key guys." The only one that comes close is perhaps Cartwright as a primary kick returner. How sad.

ARE was our #2 WR for several years, RT our starting right guard, Betts our #2 back... They played major roles on the team

Re: Different Season, Same Trap
They were all key locker room guys at the least. Griffin was definitely a key guy on and off the field.

Re: Different Season, Same Trap
Rock Cartwright
Ladell Betts Fred Smoot Cornelius Griffin Randy Thomas Antwaan Randel El The only one that I would've put up a fight for is Rock. El can nevevr step up to the number one spot in Santana's absence, nor could he legitimize his PR claim to fame. Randy Thomas is injured so often it doesn't matter anymore how great of a run blocker he used to be. Griffin's name isn't heard often enough to matter anymore. he had 70 tackles and 6 sacks 6 years ago and hasn't been CLOSE to that since as in the last 3 years he posted less than 30 solo tackles and less than 3 sacks. Smoot!?!? HA!!! The man swats balls like they're flys in his face. If all his ALMOST picks were ACTUAL picks, he'd have made the probowl this year. If I had to see him ALMOST make the pick that would've changed the game ONE MORE TIME i would go CRAZY!?!? And Betts's claim to fame was a half a season of good running when all of our o-line came back from injury. I wanted us to trade him for Sproles or something while people actually thought Betts was good, but we kept him and he hasn't been 'the man' ever since. In Portis absence, he never made me question why he wasn't #1. ROCK on the other hand, is iffy to me. On the one side, he is not a legitimate threat as a load carrying HB and hasn't taking a KR to the house since 2006. He doesn't give the opposing team fear as a kick returner. That being said, he CONSISTANTLY gives us good field position and doesn't dance around and lose yards. He is good enough to do an NFL level job at any position we ever have put him in. I honestly dont' think we used him properly and that he would've excelled as a Brian Mitchell like 3rd down back! He has great hands and explosive change of direction and would be great if occasionaly used in the slot. Nobody can question his conmtribution to the team. I'll miss him, and though i would have kept him, i can see why he was released and I approve. |

Re: Different Season, Same Trap
I think the cobination of players brought in, the draft and coaching will greatly change us for the better:
Eagles -W Cowboys -W Giants -L Colts-L Bucs -W Rams -W Texans -W Bears-W Packers -L Vikes -L Lion-W Jags -W Titans -L Eagles-W Giants-W Cowboys-W I say 11-5, we will win against the teams we are supposed to beat. I think we will sweep the Eagles. The Giants have had our number recently so I say we will split with them. The cowboys I will always say we beat because I hate them. We will beat the Texans Kyle should know that team like the back of his hand. I think the running game is the piece that everyone is underestimating right now.

Re: Different Season, Same Trap
I love optimism as much as the next guy. But from the outside looking in, besides the coach and GM this team still has essentially the same face.
Got McNabb, sure. But is not this team reputed to be one that tends to sign big names that are past thier prime? How is this any different? And such lofty predictions even BEFORE the draft, before mini camps, before the roster is solidified. Way too much can happen between now and September. And do you really think enough is being done to improve by 6 or 7 wins? Last time that happened was 1999 when the Rams went 13-3 after a 3-13 season in 1998. |
