If he does play well than the Eagles get our 3rd pick next season. The Redskins still do not want to build in the draft which has haunted us for years. I like having McNabb but I would have been ok with JC this year with a better O-Line. Then draft a QB in the 2nd rd if McCoy was there. Im not predicting any records , I just hope this trade works out for the Redskins team and fans. Its to early to say if this will make us playoff contenders with the O-line not addressed.
Trading away the future should not come as a suprise. Despite Shanahan's denial of his construction being built to win now, he has pledged to add any player (s) that will help him win games. I actually look for more trades involving draft picks with the exception being any future #1's.

To all the Redskins fans that are predicting 16-0 , you will be the same fans complaining on here if we dont do well. Lets get real we were 4-12 so if we go 8-8 thats positive people. Dont get your hopes up to high cause you may have a big let down.

On a side note has anyone added McNabb to the Skins in Madden?

It's just so weird. In a good way though.

Re: Different Season, Same Trap

I know that things look simaliar from the outside, but this is not the same team that will suit up in the fall nor is this business as usual for the Redskins. To much has already changed, though it seems that some things have stayed the same. The addition of the players that have already entered the team at Redskins Park may have the same feel as the past. BUT BA and MS must rebuild with thier players and it starts by dropping some of the old faces that have not won much of anything since they have been here. That also means bringing in some vets. Since this years FA market wasn't that good I think we have done a fine job, and tings are not being run as they would have in the VC era just on the fact ath we have not signed one or tow HUGE FA to ridiculous contracts. On the contrary we have brought in good veteran depth and quality starters at good market value prices. I am not going to make any predictions like others have, I am only going to say this Redkins team of 2010 will be much more competitive and fun to watch as teams in years past.

Got to agree with saden1 on this one... we're looking at .500 - .625 tops

^I'd miss Griff and Thomas if they were in their prime, but not in the state they had been in recently.

Also... i think it's funny how in other threads i said we were reliving past mistakes in some of our moves as in the signing of older players and our treatment of Campbell, ect.

When people said I was living in the past for saying that we were doomed to repeat it, i said that Shannahan was trying to turn McNabb into Elway and that our GM is trying to be his pops and relivive the 'over the hill gang', EVEN AFTER i said that only one of the players recently signed was under 30, i was treated like a hater.

Now on the official website they are comparing McNabb to Elway and have a big thing about the 'Over The Hill Gang'...

Funny

Remember this team lost like 6 gms or something by like 6 pts or less, this could be a quick turnaround and all the most consistently good team usually have a solid QB and this is our first one since brad johnson, Mcnabb is coming off a probowl year so damn right I'm excited!

Re: Different Season, Same Trap

Me & my dad were @ the Skins vs Bucs game in 05'. Rock ran a Bucs kickoff back for a td! Up on the big screens @ the stadium, the replay froze the shot where Rock clearly stepped out of bounds! Since the ref's did not see it and there were no penalties, the play could not be overturned!!! The Bucs unfortunately won the game, 36 to 35. It was the best game I saw the Skins lose in a long time. Ye, and the touchdown they awarded to A-train was bogus! We really won the game. You have a point, since then, I really have not seen Rock participate much. Too bad.

Yeah, if you look at the past two seasons and anticipate that Shanahan and McNabb are worth at least a touchdown per game, that's 10 games over the past 2 seasons that we lost by 6 points are less.

Now of course, it's not always going to work out that way but I expect that we'd lose fewer games by scores of 13-9 and 17-13 than we have in the recent past.

I'm not dead but this team is dead to me...but now that McCloughan is here they may have new life!

Jay Gruden = Zorny McSpurrier
Kirk Cousins = Next Grossman

That is exactly the type of optimism that I am looking for. It makes sense!

A lot of those close win/loss games came against teams that didn't end the year with more than 4 wins.

The only way you can truly be excited about this team and its prospects beyond this year is if you're a cowboy, giant or eagle fan. McNabb went to the Pro Bowl as an eagle, not as a Redskin. We know what he can do on the eagles roster but how does that translate to ours?

I don't know why many Skins fans are transferring 100% of his talents and output immediately to our team. We're NOT getting the eagles McNabb, we're getting a McNabb that will play for the Redskins, meaning he will go through a steep learning curve that will be hindered due to our gross lack of offensive linemen help.

Even if we brought in 3 time SB champion, Tom Brady, we wouldn't have the scheme that he was implementing in NE. McNabb's output is going to be drastically different on the Skins. You can say his output will increase coming to a new team but from the looks of our OL and the 3 gaping holes just on our starting line I'd say it's doubtful.

For all those seeing the draft as the answer to our OL problems remember that Okung or any other rookie LT will simply be neutralizing the loss of Chris Samuels. If you remember the start of '09 our OL still sucked when Samuels was able bodied and starting. Now put a standout rookie there and still keep 2 gaping holes on the line and tell me what are McNabb's prospects for this year?

So....what's all the excitement about again?

Re: Different Season, Same Trap

I do know that I have read alot of articles this past week on how Mcnabb had all of his success in Philly with sub standard players around him on offense. I do not think our offensive players are sub standard. It makes sense that with off season practice, we should do better as a team than he did with Philly. (jmo)

This is fairly true IMO, and exactly why Reid and Johnson were possibly the best coaching duo in football. Reid I believe is easily a top 3 coach. He's taken a franchise that historically scrimped on salaries, cap etc and made them a perennial playoff contender.

Yes and Shanny has been to multiple playoff games and superbowls. I'm psyched!
