Smoot will get away. After seeing what happened with Pierce, it seems that the Skins have a plan financially and they will not deviate from it much, even to keep a core Redskin, so Fred will sign somewhere else. I bet they draft a CB and go with Harris this year, with Wilds and the rookie as the nickel and dime backs.
As most, I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand I really wish they would just do what it takes to keep him as a Skin, but on the other hand, it is very nice to see them showing restraint and not throwing money around to pick up all the big names (which Smoot is one of)....
