Re: The Official 2010 NFL Draft Thread: Round 1

Let's face it, this Front Office has made numerous questionable decisions already.
This is another one. Yes, I will root for Williams, Parker, Johnson, and trading away the 2nd round pick. But, they have made their bed with questionable and objectionable moves. I can see all these moves back firing, I hope I am wrong.
I am getting flashbacks of Gibbs-2, Brunell, losing Pierce, and getting Archuletta. Trading up for Campbell also turned out to be a mistake.

We just drafted our future LT, LG, C, RG, and RT. Whats not to love?

Time for the Raiders to select Iupati.

Haha...if nothing else, any injury on the O-line means that we can move Williams into the open spot. Depth all across the line with one guy lol

Don't be so sure he is wrong. Not agreeing with him either now, but don't do the typical new regime can't do any wrong crap. Too many folks cream their pants whenever we have landed a new coach with a new scheme. Thus far the new FO isn't that much different from the last FO. Trading picks for FAs, signing FAs on the downward slope of their careers etc. McNabb was a gutsy move, but anyone that questions it isn't a total loon either. Donovan had a decent line and probably one of the best, if not the best WR trio in the NFL with Jackson, Maclin, and Avante, and still couldn't get the job done. Donovan is a definite upgrade over JC mind you, but that doesn't mean we are going to the promised land for sure with Donovan. He had more to work with in Philly and didn't get it done.

You are right, I could be the wrong. Here is how I look at it.

- Our coach was a GD effing idiot and we needed an upgrade - Done
- Our GM was a GD effing idiot and we needed an upgrade - Done
- We had a lot of underperforming overpaid players who needed to go - Done
- Stephon Heyer could not be our left tackle and we need a tackle for the future - Done
- We needed to upgrade QB - Done
- Our RB has been coddled and needed to be pushed - Done

Not one of these moves is an Archuletta type move. Every move by every FO is "questionable" but to question every move by two established NFL guys doesn't make sense. If they go 3-13 ok but he hasn't even given them a chance.

I am with you Pocket, just saying don't always say the FO is infallible. Our pick was solid and overall I like what we did, but you have to expect mistakes or some situations not panning out. The best part of this FO, and so far the only real main difference is that they sign the big names for low money, but that is because the FAs in question have been deemed expendable. They have a plan I am sure, but it seems to be predicated on getting more picks trading JC and/or AH. I hope both are dealt with before tomorrow and we get 2-4 picks back.

Time will tell. I will def admit it if they make the playoffs within 2 years.
They have a 3 year window with this group to win it all. Williams is better suited to play RT day 1, he needs time to develope into a quality LT.

Why is it questionable? because it isnt Okung?

MANY people have had Williams higher ranked than Okung. It's not like it came out of nowhere.

Let's face it, you're wrong. Both Williams and Okung had top 10 grades from just about everyone. Williams wasn't gonna get past Seattle at 6 if we had taken Okung.

McClain- good pick for Oakland I think. He's a stud.

I can understand how you can say that, but really disagree. I really think the idea of competition at the RB spot, a new proven, playoff experience QB, a young highly rated LT has already improved this team leaps and bounds. Their best move so far was not over paying for crap players who will never play to their contract. There wasnt an Archuletta signing this year. McNabb is so much better than BOOnell when he came in. FO is getting a big phat A+ in my book so far.
