I will be curious to see if he can make that team, or any team for that matter. He'll be a jouneyman at best from here out.

Thought this was interesting as I didn't here about this till tonight. The Raiders got JC but it looks like we may have landed the guy they really wanted.

You're just hearing about this now?

Word was McNabb would have considered retiring had he been traded there.

He would need to put on some more weight for that, but that shouldn't be a problem. Gaining weight is one of the things he actually does well.

if he gets cut by the raiders, Buffalo might be interested. If not, maybe the CFL will be. If not, theres always sumo wrestling.

Re: Campbell A Raider

It's getting tough to detect sarcasm vs. serious posts around here lately. There have been some ridiculous trains of thought since Zorn took the job.

Sure there was always a few loonies, but they seem to have multiplied in the past 2 years. Maybe it's all of the ES bannings.

Re: Campbell A Raider

I dont think JC is a bust. I just felt like he was an underachiever. He wasn't good enough to make a bad team better. He could keep a decent team decent. And that's why i think he will do fair in Oakland. They are a young team on the rise, and he is a sensible QB that does just enough to preserve a win. He will not be their Rich Gannon, and i dont think anyone expects him to be.

Remember he still has to beat out Gradkowski and Kyle Boller, because all news says that JaMarcus Russell will be released in the coming days...

Yes, I agree those picks are hard to swallow for a player that didn't fit the system we were trying to run..

I think JC will do well and I wish him the best.

He will be in a smaller market on a team nobody expects much from. I think that will help him.

It would be interesting to see how JC could have performed with a decent O-line. Plus a decent coach! He'll get a better chance in Oakland, sad to say...

Report: Raiders will cut Russell, possibly this week
Posted by Michael David Smith on April 27, 2010 4:57 PM ET
Even after the Oakland Raiders traded for Jason Campbell, coach Tom Cable said it was possible for JaMarcus Russell to earn the starting job. But a new report says the Raiders are going to cut Russell, possibly as soon as this week.

John Clayton of ESPN reports that the Raiders cutting Russell is a matter of "when," not "if," and that the team could release Russell before Oakland's upcoming minicamp, which opens Friday.

The Raiders will save $6.45 million if they cut Russell this year. It should probably go without saying that there's no trade market for him.

If Russell goes, the Raiders would have four quarterbacks left on their roster: Campbell, Bruce Gradkowski, Charlie Frye and Kyle Boller.
