Yes I realize theres 54 but I can't decide who to cut. Candidates to me include Henson, Bryant - Peterson - or Green, and Tryon

Red - Indicates Rookie
Blue - Free Agent Aquisition
Everything really looks to be in place on your depth chart, I'm not sure I'd make any changes. I definitely see all of our draft picks making the team, they were all great value picks. We had a GREAT draft.

I do think we'll have one more RB, probably Torrain, but I'm undecided who to cut. We need to keep all of those linemen. Maybe Green? Maybe Cook or an existing player can be the LS instead of occupying a roster spot just for LS duties. We've been spoiled by having a great dedicated LS over the years with the Red Snapper. Most teams use an existing lineman, TE or LB to perform that duty.

To your dilemma - cut Henson.

Warm Body is my favorite player. I was afraid that he might hold out after the career year that he had last season.

I like it dirt but I think Thomas will win our 2 spot, and Horton starts over Reed.

Am I missing something Dirt, or is Kelly and Thomas missing from the WR lineup?

Missing in what way? Just kidding I use extenz and it works for me....wait.

Right now though I feel like both of them are as good as gone. Kelly can't stay healthy and Thomas isn't nearly consistent or fluid enough to make this team. Thats the one thing I noticed about watching Thomas highlights. Whenever he runs it doesn't seem very smooth and precise.

Keep in mind that I'm not exactly a scout but it seems like Thomas has caught Clinton Portis disease in that he always looks like he's about to fall down. To me that indicates problems in body control and/or footwork (two aspects that are critical in route running, though it does seem to help him with YAC). I would love to be wrong on this but I'm pretty sure that this problem is hurting his ability to run routes.

Thomas starts at 7:25

Actually it would seem we're both wrong on that point. Seems like Kareem Moore is suppose to start opposite Landry. So I'm now changing it to Moore/Doughty at FS and Landry/Horton at SS

skinscast Reed Doughty: im competing with kareem moore at free safety

I wonder if he's as verstaile as Armstrong. I mean thats a pretty tough name to live up to. Last year Armstrong was a Guard because we had depth problems on the O-Line. Now we have a problem at Receiver so Armstrong decided it was time to slim down and catch passes. Hopefully Warm Body can be like that.

i dont think Thomas has Clinton Portis disease of falling down, the only play in the clip that he looks like he lost his footing was the last catch and he lost his footing in my opinion is because Campbell put too much air on the pass. So that was on Jason who isnt here anymore. All the other catches or runs he had he was diving for the endzone.

Devin Thomas is one of the least fluid skill players I have ever seen in my life.

His route running is atrocious and he has about a fifteen inch vertical.

He has some amazing physical gifts, but he just isn't an NFL caliber football player. IMO.

Also I'm fairly convinced his football IQ is borderline short bus level.

Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version

Time is running out on Kelly. No true gut on Thomas other than he clearly is behind again, which is bad.

You might be close I think most likely one of the two does not make the 53 and right now that would be Kelly. We could possibly even though not likely keep 6 wideouts, I think that will depend on whether we make a move at the position.

Kelly is done. I just hate the fact the 38 yr old grey beard Galloway may be our slot

Re: Annual Predict the Final Roster Thread: 2010 Version

Does anyone think Vonnie Holliday will fit into the defensive line equation? I haven't seen his name mentioned in the thread anywhere and I know Shanahan likes him. I guess the questions would be do you release a younger player in his favor, or will coaches feel at his age there's a place for him in the rotation. Could also depend on just how many D/L they decide to keep.

Shanny has spoken well of VH. I would have to think he has a decent chance to make the final 53 for depth.

You know, I'm just not sure that Warm Body will make it. He seems a lukewarm candidate, but if there is no other long snapper on the roster I guess he would stay.

Thomas steps it up. RI

Posted at 1:41 PM ET, 08/ 1/2010
Thomas makes a move in the WR battle

With Malcolm Kelly sidelined Sunday morning because of a sore hamstring, Devin Thomas made a move in the wide receiver race at Redskins Park.

Thomas had his second strong practice in as many days. His nifty catch on a go route, against tight coverage, was the highlight of 11-on-11 drills. Thomas, who may be battling Kelly for a spot on the opening 53-man roster, demonstrated improved concentration overall.

Coach Mike Shanahan noticed.

"Nice catch he had, especially on that big go route," Shanahan said. "He's had a couple good days."

Thomas and Kelly began camp near the bottom of the wideout depth chart. They have a lot of work to do if they hope to earn a first-team job, and Thomas has shown some encouraging signs recently. "Every time they come on the field, they're being evaluated," Shanahan said. "He's had a couple good days in a row. He's made big plays. That's what we're trying to see."

Joey Galloway and Roydell Williams opened camp listed at the co-starters at the X receiver, or split end, position. Santana Moss, still the Redskins' top wideout after all these years, is the starter at the Z position, of flanker.

But Galloway is 38 and has a total of 20 catches the last two seasons. Roydell Williams has been out of football the past two seasons. The Redskins wideout corp hasn't impressed.

"He's got to compete everyday and he's got to win a position," Shanahan said of Thomas. "He's got to be better than the guys that are in front of him consistently. That's how you win a position.

"The last couple days, he's done just that. He went out there, he's made some plays. It's a combination of everything. Just not the passing game but the running game, too. Just going out there, everything."

Kelly sat out after aggravating his hamstring injury. "He's much improved from the last couple days," Shanahan said.

Shanahan also confirmed that Albert Haynesworth was sidelined because of his lingering knee soreness. The all-pro defensive lineman did not take the conditioning test he must pass before Shanahan will permit him to practice. He is expected to be tested for a third time Monday morning before practice.

"There's not change from yesterday," Shanahan said. "Still sore. Irritated. Getting treated. Working."

When Shanahan reviews the running back depth chart, he sees three veterans who are almost interchangeable, although Clinton Portis has received most of the first-team reps. Larry Johnson and Willie Parker definitely are in the mix for prominent roles with the team.

Further down the running back depth chart, rookie Keiland Williams is fourth and second-year player Ryan Torain is fifth. Torain has impressed the past two days.
