Really, have you read the statutes? The vast majority of them are a re-enforcement of existing Arizona and Federal law.

That's exactly the reason for the law, to enforce the immigration laws passed at a Federal level...by the State and Local law enforcement since the Feds refuse to come help. The immigration laws passed have been worthless without enforcement and follow-through. They even passed a law a few years ago to build a border fence but have not been funding the actual work.

The state has been pleading for help and been largely ignored, they need to take the situation into their own hands. Texas is doing the same thing soon.

These statutes give a bigger "hammer" to the state of AZ to pursue legal action against cities/localities who think they can "do their own thing" with regards to enforcing existing immigration law.

Is it a silver bullet that will reduce the illegal immigrant numbers to zero in AZ, of course not. But it should help stem the influx of new illegal immigrants and possibly reduce existing numbers when they seek government services or break the law.

If what I heard the other night was correct each illegal here cost the tax payers around $7,500 per year and that does not even enclude the jobs they take from the poor. I have no problem with anyone who wants to come here and better their life but do it the legal way and you have no problems. If your an illegal then you have what is coming to you and the worse thing is you get deported. Wow, all of this up roar over the fact that AZ is going to round them up and take them back to Mexico.

I personally don't want them here either but if you took every working illegal out of the US today and replaced them with a US worker making min. wage it would send major shock waves through our economy.

Thats assuming that min wage is all they work for and all the companies would pay to replace them. Not sure the name of the company but they just got busted with over 300 illegals and within a couple of weeks had about all the positions filled with legal workers.

I think they make more then min. but less then what the job would pay the average citizen. I know a person who uses illegals for a lawn care service and he says it has nothing to do with pay and all to do with the fact they show up everyday and do an honest days work.
