Re: Guard watches coast for oil slick's first wave

So now Obama is trying to act like he is doing something. Hey, Obama its 50 days late. So now we are accepting the help from others that was offered over 50 day ago. Wow what a leader we have here. He has no clue what to do or how to lead. I guess tomorrow night he will have some fancy speech about how he is going to get BP working on this mess or else. It would not surprise me one bit if he does not say in some form about taking over BP. Maybe he can talk about kicking some ass when its his dumb ass that needs kicking. Oh and we know the old blame George Bush is also coming tomorrow night.

He won't "blame George Bush" specifically, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear language like - before I took office we were in a war for oil, so we had to look closer to home- or some other non blaming blame filled statement that diverts responsibility from his administration. That said, there is enough blame to go around, so I hope he focuses on future solutions, not past blame.

Ah yes, a BP bankruptcy would be productive....prior to getting this mess cleaned up.

I need info. What's the difference between a receivership and bankruptcy. I think in a receivership the government assumes control and they pay those affected, share holders be damned. I mean when you buy stock you are gambling, it was almost a sure thing but........sorry charlie.

BP isn't a U.S. corporation. They may have subsidaries that are U.S. corps, but main BP is in the UK.

I know you are bored with it, but now that the Feds have approved burning the oil rather than capturing it, how does that fit with your earlier mindset that BP was avoiding shutting it, because they wanted to capture the oil for re-sale.

You right they been trying to get that oil all along, but I was wrong they were trying to shut it too. They just can't it's too deep for them. Their pockets are not even deep enough to plug that hole.

They have been burning the oil off for over a month now and maybe even longer.

Re: Guard watches coast for oil slick's first wave

Well last night was the first time in about a week or so that I sat down and surfed the news ch. from Fox, CNN, MSNBC, Etc... and all pretty much are saying the same thing. BP is not getting the job done and Obama has done just about nothing. The different ch. had their different spin on the subject but they all where saying the same thing. One news source listed all of the outside help thats been offered that we have turned down up until the past week and why we have turned down all these offers makes no sense at all.

Unbelievable stuff here

Oil Executives Try to Explain Differences From BP - NYTimes.com

Quote:
Mr. Markey added: “In preparation for this hearing, the committee reviewed the oil spill safety response plans for all of the companies here today. What we found was that these five companies have response plans that are virtually identical. The plans cite identical response capabilities and tout identical ineffective equipment. In some cases, they use the exact same words. We found that all of these companies, not just BP, made the exact same assurances.”

Like BP, Mr. Markey said, three other companies include references to protecting walruses, which have not called the Gulf of Mexico home for three million years.

“Two other plans are such dead ringers for BP’s that they list a phone number for the same long-dead expert,” he said.

and these dipshits get paid 7 or 8 figures a piece per year. The stockholders of these oil giants should demand accountability so their investments don't lose $ 70B in value.

MMS needs to do its job and enforce tougher standard on these a-holes or shut down their leases. If MMS keeps having coke/sex romps with the oil companies this will happen again.
