I was never high on this guy, and think he'll be a bust for many reasons:
He played only one season at USF
He had only 6.5 sacks this whole year
He benefited playing against the tackles from the Big East (Anthony Davis was the only good one)
He benefited from playing alongside George Selvie, who was an All American a few years ago
I never heard of this guys name until the draft, and thats questionable with my history of first round picks you've never heard about, and how they end up doing in the NFL

Keep in mind that this stat was achieved in only 7 games. I remember feeling the same way when I first heard the 6.5 sack number but after I heard that it was done in such a short amount of time it started to make a lot more sense. I mean if Michael Johnson the physical freak from Georgia Tech falls to the 3rd round with 9 sacks it would make little sense to see Pierre-Paul as a top 15 pick a year later considering the fact that both are physically in a class of their own.

Umm I think I should add that now, to my list before of reasons to like him less. If your telling me he started only 7 games, then that means the games he didn't start he was used off of the bench, as a situational pass rusher, which is also how he got some of his 6.5 sacks last year.

This is what scouts see though when they look at Pierre-Paul

After a slow start to 2009, Pierre-Paul broke out in a big way against Florida State with three TFLs, a sack, a forced fumble, and two hurries. He followed up the next week with two TFLs and another sack against Syracuse, and he also blew up a screen pass and ran it back for a touchdown. The next week against Cincinnati, he had two more TFLs. Then 2.5 TFLs and two sacks against Rutgers, where he was one of the few players to come out of that debacle with any honor. Seven tackles, two for loss, another sack, and another forced fumble against Miami. Pierre-Paul got it done in just about every game, whether it was against a weak sister or a top-flight opponent. With scouts and draftniks already projecting him as a possible first-round pick, Pierre-Paul declared for the NFL draft in early January, skipping his senior year.

Basically it all boils down to upside. I know that theres a ton of guys picked early due to upside that really shouldn't have been (Dewayne Robertson comes to mind) but as I said before the Giants know how to develop Defensive Lineman and that should be a cause for concern. Luckily we have a LT that will be able to neutralize him.

RT though is another story, and after doing a little bit of research it seems like thats where the Eagles are going to line up Brandon Graham at RE with Trent Cole on the left side. So in the end we could end up with a Graham/Capers rematch which as this point doesn't seem to be in our favor.
