Actually here's an observation, but I should note I'm absolutely NOT drawing any conclusions regarding causation with this, but it's too interesting not to point out:
- The % trends up during a democratic white house. It trends down during a republican white house. That's just a fact, I'm drawing no conclusions from that so keep your flames to yourself! But check it, during the Carter administration it went up and peaked in 80 when Reagan took over. From there it steadily dropped until '92 when Clinton took over. It peaked again in 99-00, right when Bush took over. I wonder what's happened since.
