What's not fair, IMHO, is that the amount to pay as 'child support' is in no way based on what it will cost to support a child I have a buddy who is paying $43,000+ per month in child support for one child for the next 12 years. There is no accounting by the recipient for how the funds are spent. She could spend $5,000/month on the kid and the rest on herself (and likely will). Oh yeah, and the funds are entirely tax free.
