If oil ruins these beaches for years, all the little shops and restuarants around here that rely on tourism are finito. Not to mention all the fishhermen. I hear ya, my wife and I love to vacation in Florida in the Clearwater area. We were there a week before all this mess started. Those beaches are so beautiful. To think of the environment and wildlife there being ruined by this is so depressing.

This is the scariest model I've seen yet. Florida could easily be totally engulfed on both coasts. Without their beaches and fisheries, Florida is done. Not to mention what's already happening to Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Looks like NC and SC are going to be affected as well.

This thing is going to alter the entire Gulf and a large portion of the eastern seaboard for many years. I really could cry.

Someone tried this scare tactic earlier, but scientists from Florida University and even people from the Coast Guard have disputed this. The NOAA doesnt see the spill taking this path. For one thing, the current does not move that quickly, and secondly, judging by current maps of the so called "loop current", the current begins to pull eastward after it gets around Miami, and this would pull oil towards europe, not towards the northeastern US. Too many people have already disputed this map. Nothing more than media scare mongering.

For this to even be a possibility, the flow would have to go uncontained for at least 3 more months.....but.....but this is BP we are talking about.....oh shit
