Re: WP: Haynesworth will skip minicamp, wants trade
Haynesworth speaks:
Posted at 11:34 AM ET, 06/23/2010 Albert Haynesworth statement: 'I have always planned to attend training camp' Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth released a statement today, making clear his intentions to participate in the Redskins training camp, which begins July 29. His statement read: "Despite my current differences with the Redskins, I have always planned to attend training camp and honor my contract. As I have previously said, I am continuing to prepare for the season individually and will report on time, in shape and ready to play football. Any issues I have with the club I will discuss privately and therefore do not plan to make any further public comments about this matter." Upset with the team's change in defensive philosophies and his presumed role in a 3-4 scheme, Haynesworth missed all but one day of the team's offseason conditioning programs, skipped the voluntary organized team activities and minicamp and last week opted against participating in the team's mandatory minicamp. The team fined him $10,000 for skipping the mandatory minicamp.
