Madden is cool and fun, but is not a very good indication of how teams may fare year in and year out.
Jamaal Brown, is a 91 OVR. i just searched the saints ratings.

Yeah...lot of unknowns on this team. I mean, how do we know that DT, MK and FD aren't studs with McNabb throwing to them?

Jammal Brown, Trent Williams, Orakpo in the new system...next year's should be a lot closer to the actual ones.

But then again, this is a video game

Game has been sucking for the past 5 years IMO. Wish they would actually work on things, like the tackling etc. I like that the stadiums are nice and all, but I mean, it's more about the game. I'm tired of seeing the same three tackles for the most part.

Speaking of stadiums, wonder if they'll have the updated screens and party decks.

Please Madden has come a long way since sega and ps1 and ps 2 days. I play online only and it has made a big jump in the last 2 years.

Re: Madden 11 player ratings: Redskins

These ratings aren't very good or representative of where the actual talent on the Redskins is, though the guys who make the game actually have done a pretty good job of projecting the talent accurately league-wide. They could account for this if players could choose to develop low rated bench warmers into starters by playing them, but low rated players tend to stay low rated players.

The Madden game engine is still incredibly flawed and the passing system doesn't scale with difficulty (they make it more frustrating: as your raise the skill level, your players get worse. The defense never gets better). There's enough modern bells and whistles to make it enjoyable for a few plays, but I just can't get into Madden anymore.

Completely agree...bitching about madden ratings is kind of stupid. While they're not completely wrong, think about how many players they have to rate. Multiply it by the number of different things they are rated on etc. To think that the rating is anything more accurate than a +/- 10 of what a player's relative worth in the league is stupid.

This is my biggest gripe with Madden, but I think it applies to the running game as well. On All-Madden difficulty, guys rarely hold a block, break a tackle or catch a pass. It's still possible to dominate, but it's so frustrating when your entire offensive line of 90+ guys collapses on every play.

So, I just play it on All-Pro. I usually win by a margin of 80+, but now it's more about godly stats and than actually winning. My biggest win was 150-0 (against the Cowboys), I have thrown for over 1,000 yards in a single game, and I have tallied 15 sacks by a single player in a single game (all on All-Pro).

Anyone else have some crazy achievements?

yeah, that is the only reason to play anymore. I haven't bought any Maddens since 2007 and I used to play on All-Pro level just to get absurd stats.

The one I am most proud of was most kickoff returns for TDs in a game. I would let them score on their first touch to get in as many attempts as possible. I think I got like 9 in a game.

Why dont you get online and go head 2 head against other ballers. Thats when you have to be able to scheme and call a game plan.

Never got into online play much for Madden -- too many people who never punt and then quit when you get ahead 21-0.

However, my friends and I used to have ongoing battles in Madden and Fight Night and we got these 2 plastic World Champion belts (think wrestling/boxing) to give to the current champs -- 1 for Madden and 1 for FN. It was a lot of fun, because we'd always figure out new ways to flaunt them.

Re: Madden 11 player ratings: Redskins

finally, the saints player ratings are out. i was waiting and waiting to see how jb was rated. here it is:

NUM: 70
NAME: J. Brown
POS: LT
OVR: 91
SPD: 60
ACC: 80
STR: 92
AGL: 64
AWR: 84
STA: 84
TGH: 75
INJ: 94

i have a feeling they may downgrade him with the first update they do while they move him onto the redskins roster. just a hunch...

Re: Madden 11 player ratings: Redskins

Ratings are so subjective. One person's 85 is another's 80. I just think it's fun to talk about. I know some people get all fired up about it, but it's really silly since they end up getting updated as the season goes on.

I agree and it's no more different than people projecting fantasy football players value before the seasons start.
