Thats one way to look at it a paycheck is a paycheck for some. If he does sign with the Rams thats all hes getting.
No happy ending here if this move occurs this team flat out sucks! Brian Westbrook expected to join Rams Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 14, 2010 3:37 PM ET Steven Jackson said this week the Rams didn't need a veteran running back, but it looks like they are going to get one anyway. ESPN.com's Mike Sando relayed the news cautiously on Twitter: "Just landed in STL and finished radio with John Clayton, who says the Rams will likely add Brian Westbrook on Monday. Good insurance." Perhaps Westbrook is waiting for tonight's games to happen just in case he gets another offer before making it official. While Westbrook has no chance to win a title in St. Louis, this looks like his best route towards playing time. Chris Ogbonnaya was the favorite to be the backup running back in St. Louis. Should Westbrook sign, the Rams could wind up keeping Jackson on the sidelines during many third downs.

re: Updated: 49ers Sign Brian Westbrook (update on Post #68)
I was for maybe picking him up back in April/May and having another weapon on the field but honestly right now it's not fair to all the other RB's who have been here busting their butts. Plus it would take a while for him to learn the play calls and scheme. Which means maybe by the last preseason game he would be able to perform somewhat well.
So now I'm against it. Portis looked good. Williams and Torain were awsome. Did Johnson even play? I stopped watching or fell asleep somewhere in the 4th quarter when it was 35-17. I was sorta supprised to see 45-17. I know it's a sin what I did. so no to Westbrook. He missed the boat in my book. He had a chance to be apart of something special and he waited too long in my book. All he's good for now is having a team with an injured RB call him. |

We simply don't need Westbrook. He is a walking injury anymore. If we are probably going to cut Parker, why sign Westbrook? Torain and K Williams looked solid last night. We need to keep some youth on the squad to build on later on down the road, when CP and LJ start to decline.

i see Portis, Johnson, Torain, and K. Williams probably stashed somewhere to be activated at a later date. Parker will get cut. At this point, we don't need Westbrook. Offtopic, but i'm more concerned about M. Kelly & D. Thomas.

If he was smart, he sign with the 49ers were he would get lots of playing time as the #2 back.

Rams not optimistic:
Twitter / Brian Stull: On the subject of Brian We ... The Canadian Press: Rams: Deal for running back Brian Westbrook not close Shanahan still interested: Redskins Insider - Redskins remain interested in Brian Westbrook Apparently Denver is out too since they signed Justin Fargas last week.

Maybe westbrook has a concussion and his agent is second thinking this whole rams thing.....
He would be a fool to go there and I have a feeling his career would end very ugly if it hasn't already. Twitter / Jason La Canfora: Brian Westbrook hasn't mad ...

At this point I really don't see a need to sign him here either. We have a good mix of backs already on the team and bringing him in just makes the rb log jam even tighter.
I agree with you FRedskin, he should go to the 9ers. There is greater chance for him to have success there then in St Louis. I was into to bringin Westbrook here in the early parts of summer and even into the begining of training camp, but now he would just take away from some youth we have here.

I don't want to sign him simply because I don't want to feel obligated to keep his brother.
