Re: The Solar 'Katrina' Storm That Could Take Our Power Grid Out For Years
I lost power for 11 straight days when Hurricane Isabel hit. It was miserable. But then I could always go to my in-laws to stay. This is a bit different.
Looks like there are a few people here who dismiss the impact of going without electricity, even for a period of years. Just think about all of the people in the world's hospitals on life support, or having to go through surgery. I don't think we realize how truly dependent we are on electricity. |

Cool ! Actually , I know someone who has worked as a bodyguard . Im sure you would have enough amunition and firepower that we would survive . Since you won't take my $$$, I guess I could give you one < or more > of my cousins ... cute young ladies . I have the security part covered , ATF agent and a few friends who work security for the State Deptartment .

Your john boat would still float, but I'm guessing the engine would not work since it also probably has electronics. But you're the guy who thinks all his gas powered stuff will work, so you probably won't have any oars. And if your engine fails? Oh, just take it to the shop for repair! The point most overlooked is simplicity. In this type of event you would want items that are durable, and can be repaired in the field. Chainsaws and boat motors don't fall into this category.
