Who's saying torn ACL? Word is that he suffered a hyperextended knee.

The Eagles are initially calling the injury suffered by Jeremy Maclin on Tuesday "a hyperextended left knee."
This doesn't sound so bad, but an MRI could always reveal a more serious injury. So we'll wait on guessing any timetables for return. By all accounts, Maclin looked to be in serious pain on the field, and the Eagles huddled for prayer after practice. Expect Maclin to at least miss the rest of the week.

Yeah, definitely one of those walk in the park injuries. I could totally deal with this without flinching.

Hyperextended knee. In this injury, your knee extends beyond its normally straightened position so that it bends back on itself.

Immediate pain that worsens when you try to walk or bend your knee

A popping sound

An inability to bear weight on the injured knee

A feeling that the knee might buckle or give way

Hyperextended knee recovery time, may require about six to nine months. This is the time a patient must wait before returning to sports, especially if he/she has undergone a surgery. Very mild cases, may take an average of 1 - 2 weeks for recuperation, but by far it all depends upon the extent and graveness of the injury.

However if it's as bad as it sounds then it might as well be a torn ACL if the injury is the six to nine months variety.
