Re: Mcnabb to miss Dallas game????

Shanahan didn't sound very optomistic in his assessment of the McNabb situation. There appeared to be a hint of dissapointment in his expression.

McNabb has not been able to practice, has been experincing some difficulty with the nuances of a new offensive system and by his own admission, needs more time to make the necessary adjustments from what he's been accoustomed too after working eleven years in the same system.

Anything less than 100% would not be good for starting McNabb in the season opener. Futher aggeravation to his existing injury would only serve to set him back even more.

Re: Mcnabb to miss Dallas game????

I think we all need to get use to Mike Shannahan playing mind games with the media on injuries, much like New England does. I think McNabb will be find in two weeks. The way the Cowboys have looked and the way the Skins 2nd team moved the ball on the Jets' 1s, I don't think I'm really worried. The turnover ratio has been great in the preseason, keep it up guys. I can see DeAngelo Hall getting 8-10 INTs this year.

Re: Mcnabb to miss Dallas game????

If he can't figure out the offense sitting out certainly isn't going to help him catch up.

Maybe Shanny has him running the offense in Madden 2011...

Anyways just stirring the pot... putting all possibilites out there.

Do agree with Canuck that if McNabb (for whatever reason) doesn't play vs. Dallas, it's more coaches' decision than injury decision. But again, don't think theres much chance he's not under center for that first snap.

My thoughts exactly upon hearing of Shanny's comments. If McNabb cannot practice and get up to speed in the offense, plus has a gimpy ankle, it's probably the smart move to sit him for the opener.

While I don't trust Rex w/ a season, if we assume the above circumstances are basically accurate, Rex is probably the better option. He's been in Kyle's offense for a year AND if McNabb truly can't practice leading up to the open then Rex would obviously have begun to est rapport w/ the 1st team O.

I guess I don't see any reason to put a gimpy QB out there if he's struggling w/ the scheme.

From the article:
Quote:
McNabb's condition wasn't alarming. It wasn't immediately clear on which play he sprained the ankle, and indeed, because he remained in the game, most of us watching from the press box were unaware he was even hurt until he emerged from the locker room with his left ankle heavily wrapped.
Completely wrong, he was limping all over the field and sideline in the2nd quarter. It was quite obvious he did something. He took some huge hits in that game.

No way guys, I understand that there is some Devils Advocate stuff coming from you guys, but really think about what you said.

D Mac regardless of how much of the offense he doesn't quite get yet is by far and away the best QB on this roster, period. Also like Matty said how in the hell will he learn watching the biggest game of the year as a Skins fan? This is the Cowboys guys, our new franchise QB will play if healthy and by what we are all hearing he will.

This guy will play and I believe you guys are going a little to "Conspiracy Theory" here.

What happened to Mike putting the best players on the field crap. Does anyone on this site actually believe that Rex is a better player than Donovan?

What are you all smoking? Now I know pot is legal up there in parts of Canada Canuck, but that is a crazy statement. I also appreciate all that you do here, but be a little logical here.

Lol. Don't worry it's the good stuff. :cool-smil

Wasn't taking a shot at McNabb, just putting all possibilities out there.

For all you kids out there, you can't always believe what you hear in the media. That's why I never read any of Smootsmack's posts.

Re: Mcnabb to miss Dallas game????

McNabb played with a sports hernia. The chances of him missing this game due to a lightly tender ankle seems pretty slim.

Yes, but he also played his worst season when he played with that sports hernia. McNabb needs to be healthy.

Worst is relative I suppose, I thought he played pretty well then all things considered

Not saying he played well with a sports hernia rather pointing out the fact that he's played through injuries that were a lot more severe then a bum ankle.
