I haven't gone back and watched the games from the preseason to focus on who was playing when and where and vs whom but I thought that Bryant looked the best out of the 3 (Kemo and Haynesworth being the other 2). He was getting a push and occupying defenders.

I know Kemo has been an outstanding locker room presense but he just isn't getting it done and hasn't gotten it done since he has been here. I forget who posted the link on how Achilles injuries end a lot of NFL careers and result in the player never reaching their previous performance sums Kemo up for me. His best days are done. I think you can look at Jansen and easily argue that he never was as good after his achilles went out.

He looked like he was out of shape, although it could be he's just naturally not very fast.

Back to 2008. Ngata vs. Shaun Rogers. Basically, it seemed that the plan was to tire out the NT. Rogers tired out near the end of the game, Ngata did not.

Albert Haynesworth hobbled by ankle

Associated Press

ASHBURN, Va. -- Albert Haynesworth was limited in practice Wednesday with an ankle injury, another setback for the Washington Redskins defensive lineman.

Haynesworth's participation was revealed when the team issued its injury report, long after practice had concluded. Coach Mike Shanahan did not mention Haynesworth's injury in his post-practice remarks.

Haynesworth saw limited action as a backup in the Redskins' season-opening win Sunday after months of disagreements with Shanahan over offseason workouts, practices and preseason playing time.

Safety Kareem Moore remains unable to practice with a sprained right knee. Backup linebacker Perry Riley was limited with a sprained right foot.

Yeah, it definitely changes from play to play, but you've gotta have an end who is willing and able to do both.

With AH at end, always shooting the B gap, you'd have to keep a LB responsible for the C gap on every play, which kinda defeats the purpose of the 3-4 IMO. In the end, you have to have linemen that will play 2 gap when needed, and AH won't, so moving him to DE doesn't help the situation.

You know, i just dont understand why this keeps coming up. Like I previously stated, if Haslett or the D line coach didn't want him doing the gaps, then why the hell did he continue to play?? it doesn't make much sense if you ask me. If he continued to do the wrong thing over and over, then he would have been taken out. Obviously he was doing what coaches wanted him to do.

Yeah, I know what you're saying, and all I can say is there are times when that might be what he is asked to do. In nickel packages, he probably should play the same 3-technique that he is used to. It's possible they only played him on what they thought were going to be passing downs. That's all great -- and he can get his stats in those situations -- but he has to play selfless at times (i.e.: hold up blockers and let LBs make plays), and I don't think he's willing to do that.

Defense in the NFL today is all about flexibility, and it all starts on the line. We want to be able to play 3 and 4 men down, move guys from DE to LB, DT to NT and whatnot. Haynesworth represents a major impediment to making that possible because he is stubborn and inflexible.

Last year Rak had his best sack day against Oakland, when AH did not play.

To be fair though, JaMarcus Russell did play half the game. And he's so bad you almost got two sacks on him...and you weren't even in the same state

JaMarcus Russell had super glue on his hands that day. He just wouldn't even try to release the ball. His pocket presence was about some of the worst I've seen. The only other guy who I saw display similarly awful pocket presence was David Carr.

Landry was so freakin bad last year, but it's quite possible that the switch to SS is all that he needs to become a very good player.

He has no ability to read the quarterback and he can't comprehend angles of intercept so you just can't allow him to play deep.

He plays the run very well and he is the fastest safety in the entire league so just keep him as close to the line of scrimmage at all times to protect him from himself. Never allow him to actually think. Ever.
