Anyway, Jeep has put out some very reliable automobiles over the years. The old AMC-designed 2.5 and 4.0 engines were very reliable. There are many YJ, WJ, TJ, and XJs still on the road with several hundred thousand miles on them. Those engines are some of the most bulletproof designs ever produced. They may not be the most efficient or the most powerful, but I would say that they were/are a benchmark for quality when it comes to reliability.

Re: F...Toyota
My wife had a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it was a POS. Nothing major but just always something breaking. I replaced ever power door lock motor, rear seal, crank sensor, $500 in trans. computer chips, and a few other things. If I had to pay for everything done I would have racked up some bills.

Re: F...Toyota
My brother just bought a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and loves it...says when compared to all the cars he looked at it was the best bang for the $$$. The Japanese auto makers better step up, the Koreans and Americans are gunning for them big time.

Re: F...Toyota
The new Sonata is a nice car. I am particularly impressed with its upcoming 2.0L turbo. It makes 275 horsepower (with nearly identical torque numbers), gets 34mpg, and runs on 87 octane. Those numbers just do not belong in the same sentence, but Hyundai did it. Props to them. If it proves to be reliable over the long run, it will become a legend.

Re: F...Toyota
At this point any recall Toyota has makes news.
For the record they repaired my 4Runner the bill was around $5k (zero out of pocket for me). If Ihad taken it to my local wrench it would have been a cheaper repair since he diagnosed the correct issue right off the bat. The dealer just kept throwing parts at my car en till it stopped making the noise. In the end the issue is fixed and I am keeping the truck for now.

Re: F...Toyota
That can be said about every major company in regards to recalls.
