Well I could go back and dig out my old repair bills on my last Grand Cherokee (97) and total up to the point where this Acura is and I willing to bet it was in the neighborhood of $2000 at 3 years and 60K miles, my Acura is at $850.

Huh? Where did you come up with that assumption???

Anyway, Jeep has put out some very reliable automobiles over the years. The old AMC-designed 2.5 and 4.0 engines were very reliable. There are many YJ, WJ, TJ, and XJs still on the road with several hundred thousand miles on them. Those engines are some of the most bulletproof designs ever produced. They may not be the most efficient or the most powerful, but I would say that they were/are a benchmark for quality when it comes to reliability.

Thats fine but when everything else fall a part around the engine who cares how great it is.

Man, I've never seen a car's interior and exterior fall apart faster than my father's 1998 Chrysler 300. Disgusting.

They do seem to run forever. If you do drop a tranny in a Wrangler or Cherokee, they're always easy to find a replacement locally.

My wife had a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it was a POS. Nothing major but just always something breaking. I replaced ever power door lock motor, rear seal, crank sensor, $500 in trans. computer chips, and a few other things. If I had to pay for everything done I would have racked up some bills.
