It's called being objective. Why the hell should I be blindly happy and acting like we're the Colts or the Pats of the early or mid 2000s when I'm clearly going to be setting myself up for MAJOR disappointment? Hell, we were one Jason Avant drop from being 1-3. That cannot go on for every game for the rest of the season if they really want to compete into January. I already was hyper optimistic during the Zorn years, and that failed to deliver because I was too willing to sweep flaws under the rug. The "Emperor has no clothes" is a disgusting attitude and I'm not going to be adopting it no matter how much people try to goad me into it. It's not objective, it's delusion. I had absolutely no idea Kolb was going to come in when I was making my predictions.

And one holding penalty from being 0-4. The difference between yesterday's 1st half Skins and yesterday's 2nd half Skins is unbelievable. |

Is anyone here proclaiming this was a convincing, proof of greatness win? Of course the emperor has no clothes. Is anyone trying to dress this win up as the beggining of a new championship era? That it confirms we are playoff caliber team? I don't see anyone seriously saying this team is championship caliber. Rather, I see a bunch of hater's saying it doesn't prove anything, we were lucky, Sellers sucks, blah blah blah. Even if all those statements are true (which, btw, I pretty much believe they are) - so the F what? WE BEAT THE EAGLES!! IN PHILLY!! CHOKE ON THAT EAGLES FANS!!! Can you be happy we won? Not anything about next week. Or the week after. Just today. The day after we pulled out a win/survived a comeback from a division rival - in their house? That brings you no blind "I'll worry about next week tomorrow" happiness? Life is suffering interrupted by moments of joy my friend - enjoy the interruption. The suffering will begin soon enough.

Oh, so yes, I should view our team as elite and have no room to improve. Hence, should they collapse or go 8-8, I'll be utterly devastated. I already did that with the 6-2 start in 2008. I'm not falling for that again. Hell, I was optimistic this year, but the Rams pulled me down to reality again. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about the win, but don't tell not to criticize anything when there is something to criticize. I document what the mirror shows me. If something is ugly in the mirror, that means a non-pleasing description. That said, those ****ing booers got their asses kicked. And yes, I'm a a bit of a rationalist. I'm not that big a slave to my emotions. In fact, being deluded or mistaken is nearly a damn crime in my book, which why I don't like it when I hype up my perception of the team only to be smacked down again and again year after.

I can't blame Heyer. He's not a LT yet they keep putting him over there. How about putting Brown over at Lt and move Heyer to his natural position.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
I was a little dissapointed in the running plays in the second half. It seemed that they went away from what had been working in the first half. Instead of east/west running, they started going downhill, and it didn't work. They got back to the stretching plays late in the fourth quarter, but I just don't understand why they didnt' stick with them for the entire game. Did anyone else notice that? I'm sure there was a reason and I'm just not yet aware what it was, but I'd love some enlightenment if anyone knows.

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
I was trying to find the post were someone here posted about how they hate the Bears because it seems like everything they have done is positive so far leading up to week 4.
I said this before isn't funny how things in the NFL can change on a dime week to week. I am starting to thing a lost to a 2010 Rams team is much different then a lost to a 2009 Rams team. There are really no gimme's in the NFL, there are no Pittsburgh Pirates or LA Clippers in the NFL that roll just roll over like a commanded dog. Any team can beat any team on any given Sunday, don't believe me ask Vegas. With that said this was a huge win and to be 2-0 in the East should make every skins fan feel on top of the NFL world!

Well people were frustrated after the Rams game. I get it, that's fine. I can't really understand dismissing yesterday's win though

Re: Smoot Lays The Smack Down (Redskins at Eagles)
In regards to the negative attitudes on the game thread, I dont see a real problem with it . There was carry over from the super frustrating last second Houston loss, and the Rams game was just piss poor from start to finish. I can understand the negative attitudes yesterday...I know I had a couple comments, but when you see the samething over and over it gets frustrating. I mean whether we lay smackdown during the game or just 5 mins after it...really makes no difference to me. Saying Mike Sellers sucks balls during the game or just after it...its the samething, Mike Sellers sucks.
To dismiss the win is a completely different thing, thats really not understanding NFC East football. To win in this conference on the road, its always physical and always super ugly.
