It's a long season. He could be out until week 9 or 10, of 17 total weeks. I wouldn't put a fork in Portis this year yet. Heck, if we make the playoffs, he might even have relatively fresh legs then.

Fresh legs? Hell, if his legs aren't fresh going into the fourth game of the season, forget about it.

His legs looked fresh on Sunday, that's for sure.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks, they still look like legs.

I meant that he would miss five future weeks of wear-and-tear. If he does come back, he got a mid-season vacation from taking hits, so we shouldn't have to worry about him wearing down near season's end.

Sally Jenkins - Clinton Portis' life as a running back: time and punishment

Good read

His days as a full time starter were over even before this injury.

But as a role player, 3rd down back, he's definitely still valuable. I would guess he would still want to continue on here in D.C. with Shanahan and would take a reasonable contact to do so. We'll see how things go and if Shanahan wants him back, that's probably the key more than anything.

Ladanian Tomlison is a perfect example of someone who most thought his career was over. I would bring back Portis at a modest price.

Absolute NO to LJ. He cost us a game, can't pass block, and looked done.

And we have Edge's cousin on the PS. We cannot let him go.

I love Portis...his pass blocking will be sorely missed, especially by that POS Rabach. As for his future with the Skins, I don't know. I am sure the Skins will draft a running back next year.

Looking at next year's draft if LaMichael James opts for the draft we should definitely do what it takes to get him.

Maybe he 4th or 5th round pick someone gives us for Devin will get us a running back next year.

Umm...if Moss is fetching a 3rd, no way in hell Thomas gets anything more than a 6th or a 7th. He'll be a Redskin for the rest of the season.

Much of the media in Baltimore think that Torrain is a legit starter in the league. I'm curious what other media members aren't seeing that they do.
