Williams was going to return regardless of CP's status...like Banks, I think he was just a weekly roster shuffle, not a permanent cut, so I wouldn't read into CP's season status too much with a practice squad signing...James is just replacing Keiland's PS RB spot.

Portis 4-6 confirmed.

Twitter / Ryan O'Halloran: Portis out 4-6 weeks says ...

Shame, he was running VERY well...looked rejuvenated.

Who did they cut to make room for Williams in the roster? Will they IR Portis?

Very possible. Ryan Grant was IR'ed even though he could have come back midseason or something.

Grant tore an ankle ligament, an injury with a 10-12 week healing process.

Portis has a 4-6 week injury at this point. If he had not been performing well prior to the injury, there could be a reason to IR him, but if we can get 8 games out of him and or even bring him back for a playoff push, we should.

I normally agree with your posts, but not this.

Portis has performed marginally well this year. He wasnt on pace for a monster year, or anything like that.

If Torain, or any of the other backs are running well, especially if we are a playoff team by the point Portis could return, why would they go back to a guy who hasn't played in 6 weeks and is probably out of shape?

Seriously....when playoffs are here or on the line, you stick with whats working. Torain could be hot by midseason.

Like others have said. My money is that CP is done as a redskin.

I believe that 4-6 weeks is very optimistic for an injury in which a muscle is torn from the freaking bone no matter how you slice it. We don't know how this will affect Portis' cutting ability and whatever speed he has left.

Don't use the word "slice" in the groin thread, please!
