Does our Front Office make the right decisions?
Guess who is the leading reciever after week 5... Brandon Lloyd! Lloyd was released before he ever got a true shot here. A player who was said to not be good enough in Washington to get on the field or get any balls thrown his way. Now the number 1 guy in Denver and the NFL (stats wise).
I think Shanahan dropped the ball on Thomas, but only time will tell. My question for discussion is do you think we are on the right path? I think the skins have a problem. Davis should see more balls come his way. Galloway should not be here at all. I happy we are winning but I do question the motives of staff. What do you think?

too hard to say this early and cutting lloyd was the previous front office. but i would throw roydel williams in there with galloway, neither of them should be in the nfl right now

Re: Does our Front Office make the right decisions?
It's easy to second guess our front office when Lloyd blows up in Denver, but this is what, 3 years after we released him? He might just be having a career year or maybe this is a permanent thing. Either way hindsight is always 20/20. Devin Thomas might go on to be a dependable wideout for the Panthers. Or Jimmy Clausen could continue stinking the joint up and that'll be the last we ever hear about him.
Remember when we cut Walt Harris back in the day (I think it was after 07?) When he was with us, he stunk up the joint. He was starting for us back in the day but I always felt the lower he was on the depth chart the better. Well the year after we released him he went to San Fransisco, had like 6 picks and went to the Pro Bowl. And then I think since then he's been injured and he probably retired, or maybe he's with a team but low on the depth chart by now. My whole point is, at the time I thought cutting him was the right move, and then he went to the Pro Bowl with SF the year after that, but since then hasn't done anything. One man's trash can be another man's treasure. He may have had one good season after we cut him, but at the end of the day nobody knows how things will work out. It's not a matter of whether he's a good player, because anybody can be a good player with the right scheme and talent around them, it's just a matter of circumstance. With all that being said I don't question the motives of staff when we are winning. Do you think anybody in the locker room was wishing for DT after the win yesterday? It was just a case of Lloyd not being a good fit for us while he was here and since then it's taken him 3 years before now he's getting his shot and proving he's still a good player. I'm not mad we released him, because it wasn't going to work out here. |

Re: Does our Front Office make the right decisions?
Agreed the last front office make knee jerk reactions based on what fans and the media said. Shanny makes moves based on his ego. What happened with DT and Haynesworth should not have gone this far. Not to mention the moves of Parker and Larry Johnson it really make you wonder...

Was this thread just for you to say "I told you so" on Brandon Lloyd?

you are right though they are some very questionable moves and shanny has always been a big ego thats ultimitly what lost his job in denver imo. he got into a pissing war w plummer and threw in cutler and never got back on track and now neither shanny or cutler are in denver

Re: Does our Front Office make the right decisions?
What a novel idea..... I think the fans and every other NFL GM should know what we are doing before we do it. This makes for much better forum talk.
Why would this ever be a good idea? (**sarcasm**)

Re: Does our Front Office make the right decisions?
We paid him too well. He had no incentive to focus on football back then. Now he does.

Re: Does our Front Office make the right decisions?
I held out hope forever on Brandon Lloyd. When it comes to it, sometimes I think situation is just as important for players as skill. Especially at positions like WR. I kinda wish I had a time machine and I could put players on different teams and see how their careers pan out.
Just like work environment for us. If you've been in a work environment that doesn't suit your skills -- then it's had to perform up to your capabilities.

Absolutely nothing. :smashfrea |
