Yes and buy your HDMI cables on-line not in the story, the difference in price is night and day.

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help
Comcast has amped up their HD lineup significantly, however, they cram as many channels into one thread as they can, and it tends to degrade the signal. At least they used to. I'm happy with my service from Comcast, just not happy with price. I'll be calling their customer retention line here soon to see what kind of price breaks I can get.

Ok, so I bitched enough and they are going to hook me up with a new HD/DVR receiver and up grading my other receivers.

Yup. If you don't like what the current rep is saying, either get moved up the chain, or call back and get someone else. Someone will give you want you are looking for if you are patient enough to look for it.

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help
I knew calling back or asking for a MGR would get better results I just hate calling places like this and talking to a F^&%ing computer. Then you get ticket and yell something into the phone and computer person thinks you want something else and starts all over.

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help
I bought a 32 inch Toshiba HD LCD about three years ago. It's just a 720p, but I am still amazed by the picture quality. I watch bluray on it all the time and play my PS3 on it as well. I would love to have a bigger TV sometime when I pay the car off, but right now, I'm more than pleased with the TV I have. In fact, it has a better HD picture than my friend's Sony 40 inch LCD he bought a few years back.
Now, I realize the higher HZ the better moving objects look, but I'm not necessarily convinced that 1080p is THAT big of a difference when it comes to broadcast TV. As far as I know, they are still shooting mainly in 720p/1080i.

Yes you are correct, only 1080p you can see is through a blu ray player.

Re: Buying My First HD TV & Need Help
So honestly, can any of you guys tell THAT much of a difference between watching a blu-ray movie on a 720p TV as opposed to watching it on an actual 1080p TV? I mean, I can definitely tell a difference between a regular DVD movie and a blu-ray, but I'm wondering if the refresh rate is really the bigger difference as opposed to the rate of the progressive scan?
