Actually, that's good news for us I think. Carolina isn't paying that. Cleveland probably not. If BA/MS says go ahead Snyder will sign that check easily.

But if he clears waivers, he's a free agent and would get a new contract, right? Or is he at least guaranteed that portion?

Exactly, they are tons of teams who could use a hall of fame reciever right now...there is no way he doesnt get claimed
