Re: Redskins and McNabb Agree to Contract Extension

78Mill over 5 years = 15.6 mill per year. 40 mill of the 78 is guaranteed so of the 15.6 mill per year 8 of that is guaranteed. BUT Chances are the bulk of the 40 is in the first few years, so probably its more weighted like 25 per year the first two years and 12.66mil the last 3 years. Here is a link to a good article (not on the salary but the benching/extension connection) The Bench, The Bank and in everything Between! « DC Sports Radio |

GC on it only being 15.6 mil per year, i was about to say I did that wrong because the 8 mil bonus would be part of the 15.6 mil per year total cost. I think the contract is probably gonna be front loaded because they don't know how many years McNabb is going to give us as a starting quarterback. So even though it averages 15.6 mil per year, it's probably gonna be a lot higher than that in the first 1-3 years of the deal, then a lot lower than that in the final 2 years so we can release him or if he retires and we don't want a huge cap hit.

Re: Redskins and McNabb Agree to Contract Extension
I like the move. Not worrying too much about the money, it's nice that we have essentially guaranteed that McNabb is going to retire as a skin. I wouldn't really want many other QBs in the league to tutor whoever we draft to be our next young QB.
I don't understand how people can be upset about this. If you don't resign him, you waste two draft picks and are stuck with either sexy rex or a rookie. How is that better? Signing him for five years isn't guaranteeing that he'll start until his contract is up. Besides, tonight he's going to have a great game. McNabb always plays well after a benching or a bye, and this week he has both. I expect big things tonight, and not because of the payday. |

Re: Redskins
All teams with much better offensive lines than ours. If bradford was behind the redskins o-line right now, we would be screaming for grossman...we're lucky to have a quarterback like mcnabb who can actually make plays when he's under siege, or else this season looks just like last year.
