Also: McNabb sold his option to free agency for...three and a half million dollars.
I'm sure he feared the Redskins exercising the franchise tag on him, which is the only reason that he'd agree to that up front payment. But it also means that his agent thinks there's no market for him when he does hit FA, and that he'd essentially be signing somewhere for 2/12 or something.
