Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
We probably wouldn't even be having this discussion if the team was winning games. The frustration that comes with not winning leads to various reasons as to why.
The team has not played well since moving to Landover, whether the stadium itself has anything to do with it is open to conjecture. TBH, the teams we've fielded since moving there have not been considered very good teams. The team may eventually move back to the City, but don't expect a move anytime soon and definitely not back to RFK.

Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
I would think that bigger stadiums quickly become smaller home field advantages. Simply put, when a team is winning, the seats will mainly be filled by that teams fanbase, but if a team starts playing mediocre or poorly, a large stadium will attract the opponents teams fanbase because more seats are available. Add to that DC's proximity to a lot of other football fans cities (2hrs to pitt, NyJ,NYG, and Philly, a little more for Carolina), plus DC's own weird mix of allegiances and you get a stadium that will easily be overshadowed by other fans. (It was interesting to hear the Saints fans take over the new Cowboys stadium at points on Thanksgiving day
).If the Skins field a consistent winning team FedEx will rock, until then, homefield is just another stadium. |

Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
I thought I had heard something a while back about Snyder wanting to build a new stadium close to RFK, but I'm sure that was probably nothing serious nor would it be anything that would happen soon.
It really all comes down to the fact that the teams this franchise has put on the field since moving into Fedex and even a bit prior were mediocre to bad teams. So, that's going to send bad vibes as it is. And I'm sure that the number of Redskins fans who bought tickets at RFK have dropped off since the team just doesn't win on a regular basis anymore. That in combination of higher ticket prices plus the economy puts a bind on the average fan attending an NFL game. So, there might be something to the notion that those who attend the games are higher up execs who really don't follow the 'skins as closely as a lot of us do.

Well technically the Giants don't play in New York so...that said, our wins at the Giants have unfortunately been few and far between

Re: Can the Redskins move back to RFK?
Exactly. If memory serves me correctly, we had trouble winning there even when we were good.
