Love the comments!
"I presume further study will only reveal this microbe to be the missing link between humans and politicians..." "It could go a long way to explain the existence of Glen Beck. "

This is an extraordinary discovery and one that probably belongs in the same company as the discovery of DNA itself.

Re: NASA scientists discover all-new form of life
Speaking of discoveries, I was watching the news the other day at lunch and they were talking about how scientists have discovered a way to reverse the aging process in lab rats. Basically these lab rats would be equal to a human who's around 80 or 90 years old, and when they had preformed the test on them, the rats actually started being able to reproduce again, started growing new fur/hair, etc...
They are hoping this could one day led to possibly a cure or to reverse the effects of Alzheimer in humans and of course reverse the aging process in general. I know that wasn't exactly what this thread is about, but it got me thinking about that with this discovery. Imagine what this discovery and the one I was talking about could mean for people in the future!

Agreed. They are going to need to re-write the science books. This is truly amazing.

The way I see it, people way back in the stone age died because of the common cold and the flu. Nowadays, we think nothing of them. I could see this possibly being true for nastier diseases down the road.
