Redskins - - under the leadership of Danny Boy Snyder - - have a long history of paying players to come here and then cutting/releasing them for nothing.

The pattern works over a decade of Redskins' history; there is no reason to believe it cannot happen again.

And by the way, since the Skins and AH have been so public in their contretemps, what would be the incentive for another team to "work something out" with the Skins to acquire Haynesworth? It isn't as if there are a bunch of GMs out there who think that everything is hunky-dory between Haynesworth and the folks who run the team...

The Redskins should sue his ass and recoup some cash back, then trade him or cut his fat ass. I'm sure they could find a reason to sue his ass, such as not performing.

I'm no lawyer, but its not that easy. Plus, big Al would have the union fighting tooth and nail for him.

He's got the Redskins by the balls. Nothing they can do except cut their losses.

How about taking the $20 Mil and not performing up to the contract? There's got to be something written into the contract somewhere, a loophole.

Define performing up to the contract.

Unless there are specifics in his contract regarding performance, good luck with that.

Shanahan is coaching the players he has. Some were left overs from the past and some he brought in WITH Bruce Allen. Allen is the catalyst here. The culture of the team can be changed partially by the coach and by the GM. The coach can affect change on and off the field in terms of actual "football". The GM can contribute to that change by the type of players he brings in through free agency and the draft. I'm willing to give that process a few years. Firing AH and anyone else HAS to go through Allen. Shanahan has some say, but ultimately Bruce holds the keys.

I couldn't tell you, I would imagine there has to be something written in the contract.

I understand but....No player brought in here since Snyder took over the team has been payed as much guaranteed money as Haynesworth. I'm of the belief Snyder is still looking for some form of return on his investment, and that fact alone could be the only reason Haynesworth is still on the team.

I'm not buying into the concept Haynesworth is worthless. There are GM's around the league, knowing he's having problems here in Washington who are just waiting for the right opportunity to pounce for as little as possible.
