All true, but spilled milk nonetheless. I just don't believe that Shanahan fully appreciated what a circle jerk, cluster **** of a franchise he was inheriting. Now that he has a grasp of the scope of this job, he's blowing it up and starting over. About 8 months after I would have liked to have seen it happen, but oh well.

what are you talking about? shanahan didnt inherit mcnabb. he went out of his way to acquire mcnabb and gave up two high draft picks to do it. this isnt a situation he inherited. its a situation he created himself. thus far, shanahan's took a franchise that was already dead and has made it even worse.

I see your point, but for all we know Shanhan's marching orders from DS could've been;
1) see if you can make some moves to win now
2) build a team for the future

So, in shan's defense, either by his decision or by Snyder's, it sounds like getting McNabb was to make the playoffs & win now to some degree. Now that is over, so he's looking to the future. I appreciate the latter, I just don't think the timing is very smart. Wait till the offseason to make a decision like that. Shanahan has to maintain a good relationship w/the rest of the team, I think he just set himself back a lot in that regard.

he would have looked at the last 3 years worth of film on mcnabb and known he wouldnt take this team to the playoffs.

I'm not necessarily arguing with you, but didn't McNabb take the Eagles to the playoffs 2 of those last 3yrs, including the Conference Championships one time?

I'm talking about the fact that Shanahan didn't realize the team was already ****ed, so he thought swapping for a marginal QB would actually make a difference. Upon seeing that we are far, far, far from contention, he obviously realized that having a veteran high profile QB that has only downside ahead doesn't make a lot of sense.
