Obviously the coaches saw things on film from McNabb which caused them to believe he wasn't making the right decisions despite protection from the line. And to be fair -- the protection up front has been better at times this year. It's amazing to hear so many fans so livid over the benching of a guy who hasn't played well.

And I wouldn't say McNabb is a lock for the Hall of Fame.

you are missing my point. I didn't expect the offensive line to be fixed in one season. I made a point to say its been overlooked for the better part of 10 years. You made my point exactly, we continue to bring in FA's and mix match olineman every year instead of addressing the needs through the draft over the last few years. The coaches bringing McNabb into the mix this year should have been evaluated before bringing him hear then saying he isn't a right fit. I mean the guy has been in the league for 11 years, dont you think there is enough information on McNabb to make that decision before wasting a 2nd and 4th round draft picks? It isn't a coinsodence(SP) the QB play here has been suspect over the last 10 years when the common denominator in the equation has been the horrible offensive line. I didn't nor do I think the oline is fixable in 1 year, it needs a few drafts to get this thing in order. Every year our QB's are sacked, hit, hurried as much or more than any QB in the league. To place the blame on a QB every year is getting old. I mean, Campbell seems to be playing pretty decent in Oakland with a decent oline and a decent running game. They are winning games against division rivals and in the hunt for a playoff berth.
I am not blaming Shanny for everything, however how he has handled certain situations is suspect at best.

The O-Line has made great improvements from years past. I see their down falls from a combination of placing guys in situations that they cannot progress beyond the linesman's natural abilities.

I wonder if Rabach and Brown fit in the above assessment. They both are physical and good man-on man type players, but can they move fast enough to play in this scheme. Most of the pieces are there and I am sure they will fine tuned this offensive line to the scheme's liking. Coaches keep their jobs because they know from experience what works for their brand of football.
