my basic point is that id rather draft a different position in the first round and get a guy to develop behind whoever our starter is, whether it be in the second round or later. im really not sold on anyone but luck as an elite qb this year, and hes only a redshirt sophomore this year.
And my counter point is to look at where the top QB's in the league were drafted. Phillip Rivers, Joe Flacco, Matt Ryan, Peyton Manning , Jay Cutler, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Rothelisberger, Eli Manning, Josh Freeman, Mike Vick. Even our very own Donovan McNabb was a first rounder

You think the first round hit rate is bad yet you completely ignore what is virtually a 0% hit rate of second round QB's over the past decade. Kellen Clemons, Tarvaris Jackson, John Beck, Drew Stanton, Brian Brohm, Chad Henne, Kevin Kolb, Pat White, Jimmy Clausen, Quincy Carter, Marques Tuiasosopo.

Out of that group Kolb is the only one on track to have a productive career. Clausen might turn into something but chances are he won't. These are the type of guys you find in the second round. (As I pointed out before Brees was selected 32nd overall which today is a 1st round pick, which in turn is moot for anyone lobbying to draft a QB in the second round in 2011, and by the way Brees sucked until 2004 which ironically was the same year the Chargers said enough and drafted Phillip Rivers).
