Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
Having said all that in defense of Taylor, my favorite player on the roster right now is still Cooley. He is no "beast." But a smart, consistent, good character guy.

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
Taylor had a pretty solid rookie season.
Did he make some mistakes, sure, what rookies don't? He also created some turnovers, had some nice hits, and was an intimidating presence in the defensive backfield. |

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
Exactly. I can't wait to see how much he's matured this season. If there is anyone who has a coaching staff to help that process, it's Washington.

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
its amazing how nobody has mentioned the game against the vikings. didn't anyone see when the vikings had the ball on our 1 yard line and sean taylor stuffed michael bennett up the middle when he tried to run it in. or his interceptions that helped against the 49ers and clinched the game against the bears. its wondrous how everyone attacks his bad plays, but never mentions his good ones.

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
I think it was Moe Williams that he stopped and that's an even BIGGER feat. Moe is a beast himself.

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
Good call Mooby. He was great in that game.
Either way, SC still has a point. Taylor still needs improve on wrapping up in many tackles. We don't want his flying past the guy with the ball the way Lavar has over the years. Fundamentals are important. |

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
It might just be me, but I always thought he looked like he wrapped up for most of his tackles. Of course he wasn't perfect, but I thought more often than not he was fundamentally sound in his tackling.

Every time Ade Jimoh is in a game, you can count on a long completion to the guy he's guarding. Jimoh is a B-U-M bum.

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
Wow, this story sure brought everybody out of the wood work! It is disappointing not to see both these guys at the voluntary workouts....we do need to keep in perspective that there might be more to the story than what we are hearing from the media.

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
I don't have a problem with ST's abilities, but I think everyone can agree that he needs to improve in certain areas, regardless of whether he's behind, ahead of, or right at the curve for the development of a rookie/2nd year player. That's the point though, he does need to improve and he does need to get on the same page as the rest of the D, and these workouts are, at least in part, designed for that. I'm sorry, but until he wins NFL Defensive player of the year honors, he needs to be at the workouts and camps working on his game because he's obviously not without fault yet.
I just think things like this are very telling with respect to a guy's character and what you can expect from him. They're also often a result of the program and college that they came from.

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
I really do think he could pan out. I'm not counting him out already, I just think it's a very unclassy move on his part to not come to workouts.

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
If I'm not mistaken, Taylor is working out with the rest of the Miami players in Florida. Again, I WOULD prefer him to be with the team, but I think it's a Miami tradition (even though Portis is with the team).
Moss really has no excuse.

Re: Taylor, Moss Miss Redskins Workouts
Uh - guess who else went to Miami, Malcolm. Yep - you got i!
That being said the QB-WR connection is much more important. Sean Taylor has a ways to go, but I wouldn't trade him for Ed Reed man for man right now. I think he is an overall better player, and will soon eclipse Reed. That's just my opinion. SC - With the #5 pick last year - what would you have done with it? Gone Winslow, trade down, Taylor? What? I'm just curious.
