Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves

The reason the Dolphins are paying that much is because they really want him and don't want him going elsewhere. Jim Harbaugh is the real deal, trust me. His brother John was a special teams coach at Philly for years and look how that turned out? Jim has 15 years experience as player and 2 as a QB coach in the NFL, he has a passion, fire and is very competitive, remember him as "captain comeback". At one point someone has to give him a chance. Remember when Joe Gibbs was hired by the Redskins, people were going who the hell is this guy?

I really don't get why Jim Harbaugh is getting so much attention. 7 mil per year??? lol. Only in the NFL does silly stuff like this happen. Like the guy has a magic wan or something. He's done a GREAT job at Stanford but the NFL IS NOT the Pac Ten. And regarding his brother, just cause John does a good job has nothing to do with Jim. Having a solid owner and a top front office sure helps John's cause. Not saying Jim's going fail but he's got no track record in the NFL as a head coach or even as a coordinator.

We shall see, especially if he goes to Miami with Jeff Ireland.

Re: NFL Coaching Rumors and Moves

I think Harbaugh will be an exception to the rule, but its a super gamble to take a college coach and then on top to give him a ton of money. Listening to Chris Landry the other day, he was saying the best coaches were first seasoned cordinators. To give a college coach over 5 mil per season in his first NFL HC job is absurd

I wonder why the owner of the Dolphins isn't catching any flack for going after a new coax& even when you already have a coach in place. Just imagine if Dan Snyder did that?

And not complying with the Rooney rule, unless he interviewed Todd Bowles and nobody knows about it.

He's been getting flack. And he did interview Bowles (or he will, not sure it's happened yet)

He has just interviewed so far, and thats ok.

If he hires a coach without interviewing a minority candidate first, then that is a RR violation.

I think the Rooney Rule is a good rule, but the way it is being obviously circumvented the last few years is an absolute joke.

This makes me think a lockout is almost certain now

Well...luck staying at Stanford may be because he was hoping to play for Harbaugh or something...and he doesn't know who the new coach is now...and Jerry Jones or any owner stating opinion about a lockout aint worth much at this point...in fact it may just be a threat to gain leverage for the owners....there will be a ton of threats/opinions from owners/players going forward, most of which will mean very little.

Although, I see your point about Luck's 50M.
If there is a lockout, does that affect sign-on bonuses from the draft?
If so, it may make sense not to risk that if you are still a junior in college.

.......no he didn't.People one of the only things that the NFLPU and owners agree on right now is a "Rookie Salery Cap"...the days of a draft pick getting "50" million and never having played in the NFL are over.
