I bet some players appreciate the fact that Shanahan does not coddle players the likes of McNabb/Haynesworth. Shanahan could give 2 sh!ts what people think about him and is all about winning. That is the kind of coach you want to play for if championships are your end goal.

They did and the asking price was too high. I think if the Chargers don't tag him we have a good chance at getting VJ.

For NFL players who can actually play, Free Agency is dominated by the money on the table. They do not worry about getting playing time - - because they know they can play. They don't worry about anything except getting paid what they think they are worth.

What the Skins have to do is to put the brakes on their historical tendency to OVERPAY free agents.

Of course we will pursue FA. The only reason we weren't aggressive in FA last season was because the crop was god-awful horrible. It's not like Shanahan didn't forfeit a draft pick once because he was in violation of the salary cap.

Kyle is never going to adjust to the players we have, so we'll accommodate HIM and grab the best Andre Johnson clone on the market, be it VJax, Sid Rice, etc.

The whole notion of 'players won't want to come here' is as dumb as Shanahan 'lost the locker room' in the midst of the McNabb situation. Players don't care about that bs when money is on the table. Most free agents will go for A) Money, B) System fit, C) environment.. We've shown we're not scared to spread money around, Shanahan/Allen will get players that fit and bottom line, Shanny's rep for winning and having a good program will offset any concerns of McNabb/Haynesworth.

As for a free agent wish list (trying to be realistic as well):

I am falling off my chair with laughter reading your doom and gloom remarks. If a blue collar player wants to be here, he will come. Why? Because of Mike Shanahan, a no nonsense coach who is looking for a "few good men", maybe several.

Don't underestimate this team. You are selling it short by suggesting that no one (FA, that is) will want come here. If they want to win they will come.

As far as McNabb is concerned ..ask yourself this .. Did Brett Favre playing with the Jets for one year set back the Jets ? I know it's not a great example as far as the situation but there hardly is a good example, however as far an aging QB who played with a team for one year then bolted I think it's similar ... HTTR ...

Plus I don't think Shanny has any foot fetish videos .. so we have that going on for us

I think the bigger issue is the fans had high expectations. Meaning some fans expected McNabb to come in and take this team to the play offs simply because he most likely will become a HOF. It's kinda hard to come to a team with only 4 months prior to the start of the season, learn all the play calls, have only 3-4 weeks to practice the plays and get them down like the back of your hand, and also have all the other players on page also. There will be a learning curve. We got to see what McNabbs was. If he stays around another year I'm sure he will know the offense better, but I doubt he stays around since Sexy Rexy (with his interceptions and fumblitis) seems to have a much greater grasp of the offense and how it should be run.

On a side note did anyone else notice at the start of the game Grossman would come out of the huddle fast, the lineman would only be set for 1 sec., and the ball was hiked not giving the defense time to adjust to the formation? the runs looked pretty good and some holes were made for them. But after the half Grossman seemed to me to come out of the huddle slow, the lineman would set for 3-5 seconds prior to the snap, and the offense as a whole did not produce as well. The run game diminished which looked like we were forced to pass only.
