Niners started 0-5, finished 6-10 and still finished one win away from a division title. Will the West be as bad next year? Probably not. But playoffs doesn't seem to be all that out of reach regardless of who's coaching them.

Anyhow, like I said I wish him well. Always liked him as a player and I think he hast the potential to be a solid coach, but we've down this road in the past with less than stellar results.

I will say the smartest thing he did was stay put in the Bay area. Because I remember one of the biggest issues with Spurrier was his family's adjustment to a new locale

Well fact of the matter is they're going to release Smith resulting in us picking him up and turning him into a pro bowler.
