Out of those, Ryan Mallett. Newton is my second choice. Gabbert won't be available at #10, I bet Carolina will take him first.

Locker was the top guy before LAST season, but his stock has gone down in his senior year. Wasn't a solid season for him. He should have left a year sooner for the NFL. He had 4 games where he passed with UNDER 50% completion rate, including a 4/20, 71 yard stinker and 5/16 for 56 yards in their Bowl game. His propensity to throw INTs in almost every game with an occasional big game reminds me way too much of Jay Cutler. He threw picks in 7 of the team's 12 games. Passed for under 100 yards in 4 games too.

Now compare them to Mallett's stats, against far better competition in the SEC:

I would take Mallett.at any rate,Locker and Newton may be gone by the time the redskins pick anyway.Tyrod Taylor is not an NFL QB.his best chance is to be converted to WR or KR.although he could be used in the wildcat offense.

A lot of you may not want to admit it, but the Skins will have to draft a QB this year at #10. Having a rookie QB on board now to learn the offense would be the right way to go.

Why? We can draft a QB in the second round. I think its pretty poor thinking by the FO to say our only option is to draft a QB at 10 with so many holes at multiple positions. I admit the smart thing is to draft a young guy at QB this draft, the dumb thing is to overvalue a position (which is overvalued already) and reach for a QB at 10.

Anybody but Newton.

We could trade for Vince Young if you want a Newton type player.

My vote is for Mallet

The earlier you draft a QB will give you the best possibility of getting the QB of the future. There are exceptions to what I have stated, no doubt, but the law of average is on your side if you draft early. You could make the same argument no matter what position you select. I just think the first round is the round to take that gamble. Yes, it is a crap shoot as with any selection for any position.

The QBs further down the pecking order usually don't pan out - just saying.

Well I think people have posted statistic's on this before and it's about 50/50 as to 1st round drafted QBs making vs. later round QBs making it. I think your right that the law of averages would in theory prove that at any position the higher the round the better the player. Otherwise more players of that position keep getting taken by other teams and your left with whats left... mediocracy?

I like to think the coaching staff would look at the players skills, abilities, speed, strength, agility, character, and smarts, all compared with the style of offense being run. This being said it might not be the expected #1 QB or #2 QB coming out in the draft that fits your system. An example would be Trent Williams. Everyone expecte the Skins to pick the next best LT on the board and they went with T.Williams.
