Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Dennis Dixon is intriguing. He looked really good during Rapistburger's suspension.
I love everything about what Vince Young brings to the table athletically. He's shown some serious flashes of star potential during his few years in the league. It's the 5 inches between his ears that worries me. But he's still better than anything that we've got at QB right now, so if the price is right I'd take him.

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Last year I wanted to bring T Jax in to back up McNabb.. I'd prob let Dixon compete for starter this year.. I think in the right situation Moore could be a dependable starter somewhere in the league if he played backup in a good fit for him a bit longer

^ I mean what other QB is out there? Palmer? So yeah I'd say VY is our Main target.

Funny how NFLN said they think the redskins will finish with the worst record

They even said we didn't have a great draft because we passed on Gabbert

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Serioulsy, I'm looking at his numbers from years past and they should at least earn him a chance to compete for a starting job. Then again collecting a 6 or 7 figure pay check to wear a red "don't hit me shirt" in San Diego can't possibly be to bad of a deal.

Volek could be the bridge we need until Shanahan drafts the guy he wants to mentor.

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Quote:
Personally I think the Redskins will be better off if they focus on building their offense around the running game regardless of who they bring in at QB. And right now I think it should be Beck because despite him being 30 years old he still has the most upside for the Redskins in 2011. I went back and looked at his preseason numbers in 2009 under Cam Cameron in Baltimore, which was a system he had spent time in and he was productive in those games so maybe the time spent here really has helped Beck. Someone like Young on the other hand has more upside overall but bottom line, Beck has an extra year in the system. Still the Skins are taking a huge risk but the Shanahans have spun straw into gold before so I'll hope for the best but still look at the Cardinals as a cautionary tale. As for Voleck. I don't know about the Redskins but he really should get a chance to start somewhere.

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
Id be fine with resigning Grossman and having him/Beck compete for the starting position, then see what one of them can do given a whole year to start in this system. If it doesnt work out there are some solid qb prospects next year.
Andrew Luck QB Stanford Matt Barkley QB USC Kirk Cousins QB Michigan State Ryan Lindley QB San Diego State Brandon Weeden QB Oklahoma State Nick Foles QB Arizona G.J. Kinne QB Tulsa Kellen Moore QB Boise State Landry Jones QB Oklahoma Last edited by sdskinsfan2001; 05-01-2011 at 10:01 PM. |

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
He's not bad but I'd rather have Orton. People are seriously underrating Kyle as a qb

Re: Redskins 2011 Starting Quarterback: John Beck?
I think they kind of overrate him. In 3rd down and red zone and 2 minute situations, I don't recall his numbers being very strong
