NICE!!!! Never wanted him to leave, I was just tired of always going into the season with him as our #1 WR.

FA WR:_________, Armstrong, Moss & Hankerson= Very solid WR core (assuming Hankerson is on his job).

Santana Moss reaches agreement with Washington on a 3-yr deal for $15 million with $5 million signing bonus and $6 million guaranteed.

Seems we are going to resign Santana.

Bruce Allen very tepid on the contract he gave Moss, but it's a functional guarantee for the upcoming season. And so that basically just forces the team to get rid of youth on the back end of the preseason. We won't be able to keep Kelly, and Banks, and Austin unless someone ends up on IR before cut down date. And with Niles Paul and Aldrick Robinson in the mix, there will have to be a quick decision made somewhere. Someone we drafted isn't going to get to play in the actually games he was drafted to play in, barring injury.

How silly would it look if they still went after Holmes now? I get bringing back Moss because he's your guy, but if you land Holmes, Moss is now your three, at best. That's good for this year's offense, but I just wouldn't see the point.

Love that we're keeping Moss, I think we'll still go after another WR though.

Picks for McNabb? Pure gravy.

Well, our one from last year, Armstrong. But I've been so high on Hankerson since the end of the college season, I could see him playing his way onto the field on an every down basis.

That's a good problem to have, at least. Hard to have too much depth at the receiver position. But if you end up cutting future performers because you don't have space on the roster, then you have too much depth.

I firmly believe the injury bug is probably going to make this signing look good. I just don't see where Moss fits in with everyone healthy. Just remember: I didn't see the logic in drafting LaRon Landry at safety with Sean Taylor already in the fold. And that...well, Landry is perhaps our only building block right now. The ends can justify the means.

Biggest concern: we do actually need the depth, but have to expose a valuable player to waivers trying to pass him through to the PS simply because he didn't have enough of a chance to earn his spot on the 53 man.

I guess I'm just not as high on AA as some. Nice deep threat, but we've yet to see if he can be anything more than that on a consistent basis.

If we still went after someone like Holmes/Edwards/Rice, I would see that guy and Moss as 1-2, and Hankerson and AA as 3-4. I like Hankerson too but it might take some time for him to work his way on the field consistently. These young guys are going to be facing a steep curve in their rookie years.

Well, Rice is different because he is young. He's going to be 25 this season. He'd be a good signing because he'd still be in his prime at a point where Moss is no longer on the team. Rice is a year older than Malcolm Kelly, and would theoretically just replace him on the roster.

Holmes isn't exactly aging at 27, but he's not Sidney Rice. He's one of the best players on the market, but again, if the goal is to improve the wide receivers by adding the most talent, that would make Moss a complete non-fit, if not a roster obstruction. What I'm saying is that going after Holmes to bolster the ability of this group is one thing. Going after Moss to show loyalty to what you think you began building last year is another thing. Bringing in both is just the absence of a focused plan. It's neither moving on or staying the course. It's megalomania - acting for the sake of acting.

The status quo plus some depth is fine in 2011. That's where Moss fits in, it would seem.
