Re: Redskins sign QB Kellen Clemens
It's still very possible we may sign Leinart or even (perhaps less likely) Young. And keep it mind, while it's been 99% expected since February, we stil haven't signed Grossman and there are teams (Cincinnati, for one) showing some interest in him.

Re: Redskins sign QB Kellen Clemens
To me, this signing says more about the Redskins plan to rebuild the QB position than it does about Kellen Clemens. Kellen Clemens, Matt Leinart, and John Beck all have something in common. They were all top two round picks. They all had really good predictive college statistics. They all can be acquired at bargain basement prices (I think Leinart is not coming here because there's actually a market for him).
Basically, the Shanahan's are making a bet that the market missed on a QB drafted between 2006-2008 and they can find him. They're probably right on the first clause: probability alone suggests that NFL types probably missed on Leinart OR Clemens OR Quinn OR Beck OR Nate Davis. But obviously, they didn't miss on all of them. And personally, the one guy in that group who seems like he has the least upside is Beck. But at least, I believe, the intentions are in the right place.

To all those that are complaining about our QB situation....There is no franchise QB ripe on the franchise QB tree at Redskins Park. We gambled on McNabb, it didn't pan out. We're going to have a journeyman QB unless one of these guys steps up or we get one in the 2012 draft. Be patient, like it or not, we're rebuilding. There aren't any other options at QB out there that don't break the bank or require multiple top draft picks to get.

How is that obvious? You may be correct but it is also possible that all of them are mediocre at their very best... Also, even if only one of them is going to turn out to be "more than just decent" as a QB, that would give a team - - like the Skins - - only a 20% chance of picking the one that will turn out well. Clemens will not embarrass a team as a back-up QB. However, if he is the guy who wins the QB competition and the guy you start the season with, the team's fortunes look bleak

Wow. Some really puzzling FA moves. Are we really eager to get some camp bodies?

Re: Redskins sign QB Kellen Clemens
The one guy I think it makes most sense to get is Caleb Hanie. He's a 24 year old RFA. There is no compensation for him. The Bears hold a right of first refusal, but they aren't going to match a legit FA contract. The Redskins should go get him, right now.

This way, Cutler won't have to be victim to Albert again, because the Bears seem to be the only team he puts an effort in for.

And as soon as I make that apart of my sig, it looks like I'm going to have to remove it.

Good! I'm not against Orton. I am however against trading any picks for Orton. You'd think with the events of last year, you'd realize that's not the right route to go. It rarely ever is. |

Just minutes before, the Miami Herald reported that Orton remained interested in restructuring to stay in Denver, which hardly seems credible. Orton isn't going to accept the long-term No. 2 job behind Tim Tebow when he could land a starting gig elsewhere. Expect to see Orton to the Dolphins in exchange for something in the neighborhood of a third-round pick. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports both teams "would like" to make the Orton trade happen."
