Can't underrate this, at least.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Shayne Graham really nullified that kicking competition today. I mean him and Gano are going in two completely opposite directions, which isn't a bad thing. Graham will probably be one of the first cuts. It's also the first time I can say I'm actually not concerned about going into a season with Gano as our starting kicker. Maybe that's just because S. Graham's problems really made Gano look even more impressive. And Aldrick Robinson may or may not be a PS candidate, but he definitely didn't help his case tonight.

Super Bowl. Kidding. Missed the game tonight and forgot to DVR. Nice stats though. Looks like we kicked some a**. I saw the first drive and missed the missed FG. Nice first game though.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
I'd like to see our starters get more snaps than usual this pre-season. Seeing as how they lost every OTA and three weeks of camp I think every opportunity they have to get on the field and actually work with the systems in full pads is critical. Everyone else can do the typical light load for starters but I think the right move is to use them MORE. I'd love to see them play the whole half next week and deep into the second half after that. In the fourth I'd even give them a half.

For the first time, I don't think the Redskins qualify as top-heavy. The second team defense may have flat outplayed the first team, particularly in the defensive secondary. Hard for me to make that claim because the Steelers played their third team in the second half and their second team offense is actually quite good, but if for some week DHall, Wilson, Horton, and Doughty were all unavailable, I don't think we'd have much of a drop-off with the next four guys up.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
We can only hope they make the difference. But the big issue here is it's week one of the preseason. If you're not healthy now, then...when?

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
No need to risk injury to your top performers since they are assured of making the squad and retaining their starting roles. Preseason is to just get them back into the groove of things, get into playing condition, and evaluating those on the "talent bubble".

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
As much as I would love to get hyped about how we play in preseason, I can't allow myself too. The preseason and the regular season are two completely different seasons. Even the speed of the game is different. With all that said, it's nice to see us not stink up the joint in our first preseason game, but again, this game means nothing. All it is is a informative teaching session for the coaches.

Re: Redskins vs. Steelers Preseason Pre-Game Thread
Seriously though, there was talk in recent weeks about Brandon Banks being on the bubble. Do you think his performance tonight and his reserve's lack of one will earn him a roster spot? The local media made it seem like his spot was contingent upon him developing as a receiver but can't we just keep him because he is awesome at returning kicks?
