Broken rib is one thing.... tape it up, put on a padded vest and play, punctured lung is a totally different story. They definitly won't want the puncture to get bigger or worse. He takes another hit in the same spot making it bigger and it could be his life, especially if his lung collapses due to the punctured lung.

Upon further review it looks like Romo is going to play Monday night. Which could be construed as a good thing because it means they'll have one less excuse when we beat them
