The penalties on kick/punt returns though has been a glaring problem for the past 2 seasons though. I feel like every time we get a good return.. which is already few and far between.. it gets called back.
Rocca...Jacks the ball. He gets a pass.

That's Smith's fault that Rocca fumbled the hold?

It's a trend? Another guy on ES actually did research on D. Smith's special teams and had the numbers/facts to prove his point about the special teams. Needless to say, it wasn't good.

I honestly thought he was gonna be gone after last season. Our special teams has been shitty for quite some time now.

Yeah, no kidding. Cowboys gave the 'Skins plenty of opportunities. Bad snaps, receivers just signed off the street, turnovers and a banged up QB.

Absolutely baffling how every single fumble but one gets recovered by them. Our fumbles fall into their hands when it matters.

Re: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday Thread

IF anyone is to blame it is the coaching staff. No real adjustments made at halftime that would allow for more than the one TD to be made. If your QB is struggling, you call plays that will help him out. Just wasn't much imagination by Kyle. I can see blitzing the MLBs on a 3rd and 21 to rush Romo's pass, but not everyone. To be honest this rivalry is borderline comical anymore. Yeah it was close, but the play was substandard by both offenses. On top of that, this rivalry doesn't mean anything anymore as the Gmen/Eagles game seems to decide the divisional crown now. Neither of these teams looks like a playoff team. Grossman's inconsistency will be an issue all year long and a .500 or 9-7 is what we are probably looking at. A good team does not play DOWN to the competition, but buries them. On the bright side, I think the Skins have a brighter future than the Cowboys, as our FO has a better rebuilding plan going on than the Boys.

I agree with this. I blame the coaches more than I do Rex for this game. What the **** was Haslett thinking going on a all out blitz on a 3rd and 21 when you KNOW your CBs are mediocre at 1-1 coverage. Mind boggling. That in itself sealed the game. I think they should have ran more screen passes to counter the blitzes. I saw nothing really special from the play calling. Haslett did do a good job for the most part tonight, his one mistake came at the worst possible moment.

What was he thinking? That's easy. He was thinking that they haven't blocked it all day.

Was it a bad call? I think it probably was. Did the play fail because of the call? Hardly. Romo could have bought time just as easily against a four man rush.

We don't disguise nearly as well as the Steelers, but we clearly have the talent that they do on defense. That ability to confuse the QB is worth a lot. We won a lot of small battles with Romo tonight, but when push came to shove in the 4th, he had Haslett's number for sure. But that's what Romo does.
