As I understand the schedule is made up of the following. 4 games against another NFC Division (NFC West this year) 4 games against an AFC Division (AFC East this year) 6 games against Division opponents 1 game against a same place team in a separate NFC division (NFC North this year - Minnesota) 1 game against a same place team in a second NFC Division (NFC South this year - Carolina) I guess the point is to give each team 4 interconference games, and at least 1 game against all four divisions in their conference.
