Re: Are You Ready For Some Football? Hank Williams Jr. Isn't...

My musings…..

Ive never been a Hank jr. fan and i never really cared much about his football intro. I don’t really care that hes gone but the nostalgic side of me misses his intro a little bit. I didn’t see the new intro (was watching tigers/rangers) but it sounds like people here liked it, im sure I will too.

Hank’s analogy wasnt racist. However what he said was dumb, poorly worded and perhaps ignorant, however, no less so then people who have been quick to jump on Hank and call him a racist. People in this country are all too quick to brand someone a racist without anything to back it up and it disgusts me. People seriously need to think and have justification before calling others racist or any other incendiary word. I don’t even think hank has ever said or done anything racist, although he is white, wears a cowboy hat, plays a guitar and doesn’t like obama, and unfortunately that’s all some people think they need nowadays to brand someone a racist.

Espn/abc had to fire him because of the polarization the situation caused, even if the division was partially fueled by ignorance in some thinking what hank said was raciest. Lil wayne popped into my head this morning and I thought about many of the racial, homophobic and political incendiary things he has said and continues to say and I think espn should cut ties with him too. I like some of lil wayne’s contributions to espn but some of the things he says in his lyrics, interviews and drunk rantings are pretty bad and it is one thing for me and most others not to care but it is irresponsible that espn is allowing it as his employer.
