I just think Kyle isn't what we thought he was. If his dad gave him the job to show the world Kyle was HC material, he has failed miserably. I am not that impressed with Mike either. We will see if he can rally the troops the rest of the way, and if he can't I don't see him staying around past 2012, unless he dumps his son.

Re: The Gameday Thread: Philly at Washington

The redskins got outcoached in the first half and grossman played terribly. The scored should have been 20-14 after the redskins 1st possession after the half because of those reasons I just stated.

But even though the redskins have improved from last year mainly because of the defensive upgrades and offensive line play being more solid and consistent - they are missing an offensive player that can make the plays when the team is down or when they need to put the other team away. The other teams that were able to beat the eagles - had one or more players like that, that's the reason that they were able to come back. And why the redskins couldn't when they had similar opportunities too. I was hoping that torrain would become that player but now it may be Beck's opportunity to step up.

The best part is we finally confirmed that Vick is human and the Eagles are in fact beatable.

I thought that was confirmed their first 5 games when Vick was getting dogged (bahaha, pun) and throwing INTs all game.

I just needed to see it against us and our defense.

I'm already pumped for Sunday and want to see what Beck can do. He looked good in my eyes this game or did some things iv'e not seen from a QB in the Redskins for a while.

Im under the impression that Mr. Delusional of the Century Mike Shanahan and heir still want rex grossman at the helm. Until he names Beck the starter, I'll bet he will still roll with rex, just to appease his ego, and to prove to everyone that he knew it all along.

God I hope this isnt the case.

Personally I think they wanted Beck in there from the start, but Rex simply had a better preseason so they had to give him the nod.

I think there is a little more to the story then what we are thinking. I think Beck is obviously the better scrambler and has a stronger arm, not as accurate in the deep ball but is able to throw farther.

Grossman on the other hand, although does not have a strong arm to throw the ball deep is more accurate on the short to intermediate. I think the biggie was that Grossman knows more of the offense then Beck and is able to change out of a play sent in to a more positive play the defense will give him. Beck just runs the play sent in most of the time and again I'm thinking its due to him not knowing the whole play book as well. Which is why I think Grossman got the nod.

If Beck starts I think he will do some things that will suprise us but I think he will do some things to make us scratch our heads. As in the Ealges game he was more mobile and ran for yardage, he showed he has a stronger arm, but he didn't change very many plays or have WR's who were going to locate the ball and then go after it. If the ball was not on the money the receiver didn't catch it. But there were a couple of passes that were not his fault either that were drops.

I'm not saying Grossman was not 100x better but I think the coaching staff had to pick the best of the two evils and stick with it. I really wish the team would have taken Andy Dalton but who would have we not drafted? Kerrigan or Jenkins? I know Jenkins is not effective right now but had he not gotten injured our defense would be a monster. and if it was Kerrigan we probably would not have the pass rush we have in Kerrigan and Orakpo that failed to get to Vick all day. (I think due to holding, but what do I know)

For the most part at this point in time, I don't think the majority of fans that have become dissatisfied with Grossman look for Beck to be any kind of big time gunslinger like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. If he’s a game manager that makes good decisions with the football I’ll be happy because I think the Redskins defense is much improved this season.

If you have a good defense and a game managing type of QB it will keep you in games and give you a chance to win. We know what Grossman is all about, but it’s the unknown about Beck that gives us hope at this point. Choosing either of the two going forward is a tough decision, but one that has to be made.

I mean right now Beck is a bit of an unknown, and the limited experience he does have hasn't shown to be anything exemplary. Particularly for a guy who (how soon we forget) was a high 2nd round pick. Of course, at this moment he's being put on a pedestal because a) he's the backup and b) our starter is struggling.

What I'm getting at is Beck going into this season wasn't exactly in high demand. People weren't knocking down his door to bring him on board. So if you think all of this is about Shanahan's ego then Beck would probably satisfy it just as much

Nice point, didnt think about it that way. You are very correct.

But doesn't it just seem like something Shanahan would think, but not necessarily say "well, Rex is going to stay the starter, regardless of what a bunch of fickle fans are screaming about." even though everyone and their brother know that Rex is singlehandedly hurting this franchise, he would rather roll with rex because that is "his" decision, rather than go with beck because fans are demanding it, even to the teams detriment? Or worse, because his son keeps telling, reassuring, or begging him to keep grossman as his starter because they are close? I hope I am wrong, but I still havent heard of a press conference come out of Redskins park as of yet, and it only takes about 45 minutes to "Go over the game tape" and see what there is to see. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyway, Hightower is better than Torain.
