No but I am sure there are some redneck hicks who believe external wars are about protecting the constitution. I believe team Bush called it "collateral damage" which apparently detached America from any wrongdoing as far as civilian deaths.

Re: Militiamen plot terror attack

What about the irony that the political right generally claims to protect us from terrorism yet here are terrorists growing organically out of the far right?

Kind of, but I think more about the comparisons between the homegrown vs. Muslim terrorists.

When you compare the ideology of the far right homegrown terrorists and far right Muslim terrorists, their overall mindsets (violence to protect belief system) and targets (U.S. government) are similiar they just have different philosophies that fuel their anger/hate.

The situation still seems ironic to me. But that analysis is dead-on.

I'd be interested to see your direct comparison between a group that feels threatened by their own Government and a cult that is predicated on being 'spread by the sword'.

Violence to protect a belief system? Possibly from the imbecile Right-wingers. All islamic terrorist groups (that I've ever researched) are just following the fundementals of their book. Check out 9:29 and many verses like it.

They are not protecting their belief system, they are actively expanding it as dictated by their interpretation of religious teachings.

You could also add the metric of sheer volume. I haven't taken a recent head-count of U.S. Right-wing terror groups but I think you'll find it's substatially smaller and significantly less of a threat than that of islam.
